My usage is less this June than in June of 09, but my bill is almost $25.00 higher this year. Can't win trying to limit usage to keep the bill down.

I am on the 12 month equal pay billing and I pay $200 year around. It may increase $10 or so for the next 12 month average since the rates went up this year.

If Obama's Cap and Tax goes through, the bill may double according to the best guesses I have heard from the Congress people.

If it doubles the bill at my house we will be paying $650 a month during the summer and higher towards the hottest, $800 a month. Sure is helping the middle class with this crap.

In AZ in late July, 106º is cool. We go as many as 100 days over 100 degrees. Night time temps have been hovering around the high 80's - low 90's, with a couple of 100º nights.
I dont see many 70 degree nights here. Last nght was a cool, comfy 59 degrees. My cousin lives in tucson & she loves the heat. She has no carpeting in her house. I have been to phx during the summer & its a oven. Getting into a car after it sits in the hot sun is a *****. I never have used my cooler at night. Right now its about 87 degrees & i only have my fans on. How does one sleep at night with no ac or cooler on ? 80s & 90s at night is quite uncomfortable.

I seem to be on the low end. Last month mine was $99 but I was out of town one week so I probably should of been around $130.

The month before that it was $95.

This is a block home built in 79 w/ single pane windows a 13 seer a/c unit.

When the wind blows in the hot summer in Phoenix, it's like standing in front of your open oven while it's set at 450º, and you have a blowdryer set to "hot" pointed at your face. Not fun. I'm from Hawaii. I don't mind the humidity. But after 8 years here, I understand why plastic surgery is so popular. Everybody gets all pruned up in this low humidity dry heat. "Oh, but it's a dry heat!" Yeah. So is H311!

2400 sqft 2 story, no pool 4 year old house. I keep it around 75-77 degrees and downstairs 80 deg at night. Last month our bill was $165 which I'm fine with.

I am moving to Scottsdale next month and will have a ground floor condo with mostly stone tile floors on the west side of the bldg (cooler in morning). The place is 750 sq ft. I wonder if I can get away with not running the A/C? Yeah, dreaming I know!

I grew up in the SW so 80-90-100 doesn't bother me. 110 might.

Probably not.

You'd probably be OK if it actually cooled off at night, but it doesn't. Sometimes it doesn't even get below 95 at night. Yuck!!!

hmmm, thanks. I guess I will keep the A/C at 80 then. A friend of mine says it really helps with their utility bill.

If it helps, my place is slightly bigger than yours and I keep my AC at 80 24/7. I pay $80-90/mo.
