So, we always seem to have a FIRST 100 degree day of the year thread, but this year seems like it might be hard to guess when the LAST one will be...at this rate could be Christmas!

I havent looked it up yet, when is the latest 100 degree day recorded?

HA HA - Googled "Phoenix"+"Last 100 degree day" and the VERY FIRST return is an old C-D thread from 2008!

http://www.city-data.com/forum/phoen...ictions-4.html

SO, if the mods want to delete this one - ok by me. If anyone wants to have an updated discussion about this year thats ok too.

From that older thread it appears these 100+ days into late Sept and early Oct are unusual, but not unheard of. Now, if we go beyond Oct 10th with a 100 day, then we are getting into rare territory. I hope it doesnt happen!

100 degree days in May and October aren't unusual at all for the valley. 90 in April and November is also quite common.

100 in October is very rare, you'll see a few hundreds sprinkled here and there in September. 90 degrees in April is very uncommon but highly uncommon in November. I suspect October 2nd will be the last. 100 degrees this late in September is very unusual and unseasonable.

100 in October is indeed rare, but it's not unusual to see 100 this late into September. We've seen at least 100 this late in the month nine times in the last 10 years. Luckily for us, the temperature usually drops pretty quickly thereafter.

As soon as I get a chill getting out of the shower I will wish them back. Some cooler evenings will be welcome however.

Yesterday was 104 in Buckeye. Wednesday they are calling for 109! I will give it a week to cool off, so I say Monday, October 4th will be Buckeye's last 100 degree day.

Foot in Mouth. It was nice today in the Valley. High of 98 today in Buckeye. I spent my day at Arrowhead Harley getting my bike serviced. It was a very nice ride to say the least; except for the fact that they reinstalled my saddlebags wrong, so they were flapping in the wind on the way home.

But back to the topic, I hope it is downhill from here on the temps.

Well September does have 100 degree days but not continously like this. Usually it'd be 98 one day, 100 the next, then 102, then back down to 97.
