Anyone here live out that way? I know they have what I guess is a new baseball park where K.C and someone else plays in the Spring.

Is it a nice place to live? Safe? Convenient to nice restaurants? Easy to get to and from? Close enough to Cards and Coyotes stadiums?

How does it compare to other towns/areas on the west side of Phoenix? Which areas are the nicest, cleanest, and newest as far as malls, homes, recreation, streets, highways, etc.?

Thanks for any current input.

Hi, El Mirage does have some new developments, but when I think of El Mirage, I think, old, shabby, and ghetto. Perhaps it's rehabilitated its reputation, however. I'm sure someone will pipe up with more detailed info. Best wishes to you!

I'm sure the old part is still there, but, like Surprise, there's a lot of new development in that area. The ballpark is in Surprise, not El Mirage. It's a very nice facility. Lots of spring training on the west side of the Valley now.

Thanks. I figured I had old info. We used to live on the west side, but that was quite awhile ago.

El Mirage ... is that one of the newer nicer areas of Phoenix
Um, no. It's a hit-or-miss town, and, if you do move there, it's best to not be close to Grande Ave (where the low income and higher crime is).
However, Surprise, the next-door town, is very nice.

That's in Surprise.

Not really. Bell Rd and Grande Ave, a couple of the main roads west, can be nightmares during heavy traffic hours. There are a couple other ways to get in or out, but, depending on where you live, may or may not be conveinent.

ditto previous comments. Surprise is much nicer and probably has a very bright future (someday). Goodyear on the west side also is a great city with many very nice communities, newer baseball stadium (Reds and Indians) 15-20 minutes to Glendale sporting activities and a bright future. I've heard rumors of a new Mall being built in Surprise in 2012, but so far just rumors.

El Mirage is way out there and soulless. If you like the color beige, you're home.
