You probably hate to see this but Phoenix for a snowbird is incredible. Awesome weather in Phoenix (compared to where I'm from) for 6 months, then back for spring fall and summer up north in Canada, which can't be beatANYWHERE!!!.

I understand snowbirds don't qualify for this thread but I always wonder if people might migrate to Canada for the summers. Call yourselves SummerBirds. I can set you up!

Even since 1996 when I moved here it has gotten much bigger, more crowded, and the traffic has worsened.

Even with the widening of some freeways and better mass transit the traffic just doesn't seem to be getting any better, I guess it shouldn't be expected.

Funny you mentioned it because I was just wondering that myself a few weeks ago...I lived in Oregon and Washington for about 2 decades and I don't really remember any kind of migration from the desert to the Pacific NW. Along with Candada, Wa and Ore have the most beautiful summers in North America. Throw in Montana too I guess.

I think this is going to be a case of you won't know if its the right thing to do until you do it. You may decide it was the right thing to do or you may find you were trying to retrace your life. Sort of trying to reclaim your college years and that part of your life.

Personally if I had a good job in Denver and my family was there, and I liked skiing then I would stay there. Of course one has the right to some happiness and again your young. If you make a mistake you can pack up and leave. Just remember in this day and age a job should be the number one thought in all our decision making.

Really think this through so you can determine what is best for you. Take a drive down to Albuquerque and check it out maybe that city could be a happy medium for you. Between PHX and DEN. Maybe make another trip to Phx and really go over your thoughts about it. Try to look at it both as who you are today and what the city is today. Not as it was when you were a little younger. People change with time as do places.

Hi VP, I'm not terribly active on this board any more, but I remember a lot of good discussions with you a few years ago. I had the user name "silverbear" back then. I'm glad to hear you've grown more fond of Phoenix since leaving, even if you lean toward Scottsdale more than me. Regardless, being unemployed or under-employed is never a recipe for happiness in any city. If you are offered a good job in Phoenix, seriously consider it, but I wouldn't advise leaving a good situation in Denver without having something lined up here first.

Red face I miss Phoenix too!

I miss Phoenix too! I can honestly say that I am enjoying the Midwest in all aspects with exception to...

the "weather lifestyle"

Here in the Midwest it seems like "freeze" or "fry"!

When we lived in Phoenix we had sunshine and resort-lifestyle weather as opposed to life filled with ups and downs of mother nature.

Snow, ice, tornadoes, hail, etc.

When spring hits you feel great but it quickly is replaced by heat and humidity...

I've had the A/C on in April then the heat on less than a week later, our A/C is back on...

More like 3 days. And those other 297 had brief glimpses light between the clouds. Never mind that you are also freezing your axx off.

Welcome home son !!!
That is a myth. Denver gets 246 days of sunshine, and I can prove it. The people here try to sugarcoat the climate. It is over-rated, IMO. I have 45 years of living experience here.

You are correct. Denver receives 246 days of sunshine. That is a fact, not an opinion. The people here try to "sugarcoat" the climate. I have lived in Denver for 45 years, and IMO, it is over-rated.

Your post made me smile. As a native growing up in New Orleans during the 60-70's we used to laugh at the "visitors" that came to Mardi Gras and never left.

While the city has a distinctive vibe and is special in so many ways - New Orleans is a brutally tough city to live in. It takes a lot of work to have THAT much fun!
