I really wonder if the schools will hold them accountable for cutting school as they should?
Is this what a good school district supports?

Phoenix, AZ -- Students at a few Phoenix high schools walked out of class Wednesday in protest of Donald Trump's win.

About 200 students at Carl Hayden High School chanted "Out Donald Trump" as they left school around noon. The high school is located at 35th Avenue and Roosevelt Street.

Students at North, Maryvale, Trevor Browne and Central high schools also staged walkouts.

Students were seen holding signs and the Mexican flag as they marched to the Arizona State Capitol where they gathered outside the building and then walked a circuit around the plaza. Many of the signs expressed anti-Trump and anti-Sheriff Joe Arpaio sentiments.

Schools have attendance policies and I am sure they apply to this situation as well as any other. I don't know of any school that is going to physically restrain students who choose to walk out ... that's what attendance policies are for.

But, if you're so concerned, why don't you call the school and ask how they handle such things and let us know what they tell you about their attendance policy.

Better to let them than to physically restrain them. That would be an even bigger problem.

There is a lot of uncertainty that surrounds an enormous chunk of our population.

This election profoundly affected their lives and their family. Many are fearful of the unknown. They are grieving. They are young. They need to express what they feel. It's not the Super Bowl. You don't just suck it up, have another beer and move on. You won. Be gracious in victory. The schools will deal with it as appropriate.

Makes me wonder if the parents are encouraging the behavior. These kids are young, I don't think they fully understand the government and how it works.

This is still the United States of America. Peaceful protest is allowed.

People are permitted to dislike the president elect. The president elect, as a private citizen, certainly protested Pres. Obama and was aloud freedom of speech with his phony "birther movement".

The Constitution guarantees the right to assemble, and freedom of speech.

All those schools listed have been horrible for going on 40 years. Central is a bad joke..90%+ are getting free lunch and free medical. Many are on food stamps and subsidized housing.

Plenty of time for them to "protest" out of school hours. And not a good thing to teach the kiddies as if they try this kind of thing in the real working world, they wouldn't have a job to come back to.

In the bigger picture translation:

Yay, free time out of class, yay.

Peer pressure.

Pure herd behavior for acceptance.

The inevitable result of giving children a trophy for losing for years now.

Exactly. I saw some of them on Van Buren on Wednesday, I could hear more walkout-er's yesterday.

I'm sure the schools will handle it. They don't have to be working grownups yet. Walk in their shoes a bit.
