My daughter wants to live in a loft downtown. She'll be working in Goodyear at lockheed. I wonder how her commute will be heading west from I-10 into Goodyear in the morning? I would prefer she live in Goodyear close to her job due to convenience. Or if she isn't open to that option the Biltmore area seems to be a cleaner, safer place to live? Not sure how that commute would work out. I imagine the closer she is to I-10 the better.
Depending where she is downtown, it'll only take about 20-25 minutes to get to the Lockheed plant in Goodyear. She is going opposite the rush traffic both ways. Sometimes there is a bottleneck at Dysart going west in the morning, but that is the exception. She needs to be careful on the I-10 stretch through Avondale/Goodyear. There are a lot of fatal accidents there as the road is way undersized for the traffic volume.

During your visit the freeways will all be cleared up by 9am. It's pretty much over shortly after 8 usually. This place goes to work early.

Goodyear is an up and coming place but it might be tough on a single young woman. It is pretty much a bedroom community with families and retirees. I don't know what downtown has to offer but it is closer to the "fun" areas in Tempe and Scottsdale than Goodyear is.

Living downtown is more suited for the ones who work downtown. But if she's commuting to Goodyear for her job, traffic might be better since she'd be traveling the opposite direction of rush hour traffic both ways.

The only thing is that much of downtown Phoenix is torn up right now with all the construction of light rail, and many other projects. It's a good area to avoid at this time ... but should be a much more desirable place when most of the construction is completed.

The 51 REALLY isnt that bad...but...I usually take surface streets during rush hour bc you never know what you will run into to avoid the surprize.
