Both Oregano's and Spinato's get it pretty close to right.

Rosati's calls themselves Chicago style pizza, though it's not deep dish which is what I usually consider Chicago style, but it is pretty good.

Chicago style is deep dish, right? That's what I always thought and what I always ate in Chicago (Giordano's, Lou Malnati's). I ask because I've found a lot of pizza places around here advertising Chicago style, but the pizza isn't deep dish. Someone please school me.

If you do a search on Google, you get this, which is exactly what I was imagining. It's sort of more like a lasagna than a pizza. /ducks from all the Chicagoans

Exactly, that's Chicago pizza in my head. The places selling Chicago pizza around here are selling flat, almost crispy pies. What gives?

Oregano's. It's chicago "style" deep dish ...might not be the most authentic, but I and many others seem to enjoy it. Don't forget to order a Pizookie for dessert!
