Bizarre.

And all caused by inebriated drivers.

And what's up with all of these house fires lately?

Is it me, or are we just getting "better news coverage?"

No, I think 3 wrong way fatalities in one week is pretty rare.

And they all happened late night/early morning I believe which is the most dangerous time to drive. Progressive gives you a discount with their snapshot device if you don't drive between 12:00-4:00am. You won't find me on the roads then.

Too easy to enter the wrong way. I can easily see how a drunk/high/old/tired driver can enter the wrong direction at Gilbert and the 202. Who puts an exit and on ramp next to each other? Tire Spikes are needed

It might be "easy" to do, but it is very hard to not notice that you did. The reflectors in the roads are red, there are big WRONG WAY signs up the ramp. Some ramps have flashing red lights. And once you get on, you can't tell me an unimpaired driver would notice all the cars going the other way. These guys this week drove for miles and miles the wrong way!

As for spikes, they don't work except in parking lots and such. Trucks and high speeds would snap them, bend them, and jam them. They are designed for speeds of up to 5 mph. To build them stronger might be impossible and if it were, they would require frequent maintenance and inspection. If they did flatten tires, now you have disabled vehicle in the middle of an off ramp with other cars barreling down on it. If they worked we would be using them.

It is pretty rare. The last one I remember...and only because I got held up in it...was last May. Wrong way on the 1-17 south instead of north. What a mess. It took us two hours to go a few miles and get past it.

I think that would be a good idea. Since we won't let illegals get drivers licenses in this state, there is no way to be confident that they know the laws, driving customs, signage etc or that they have the skills for driving. They drive anyway of course. You have to drive to live in Phoenix pretty much. Maybe WRONG WAY and red reflectors embedded in the roads mean nothing to them.

DPS: 3 dead after wrong-way crash on Interstate 17 near Black Canyon City - ABC15 Arizona

"In Friday's crash, officials say the wrong-way vehicle drove at least 20 miles northbound on southbound lanes before it collided with the rented minivan about 30 miles north of Phoenix."

Driving at least 20 miles without realizing they were driving the wrong way?!? That's not "easy" to do in my book and in my view shows someone with complete disregard for their surrounds no matter the reason. As a result, several innocent people died.

In my book, that's someone who shouldn't be driving if they can't figure out something so obvious and I think their license should be pulled immediately as they are obviously not fit to operate a motor vehicle. And I have a feeling the people who lost family in that accident would feel the same.
