FD: W. Valley mulch fire could burn another week - ABC15 Arizona

We are in Estrella Mountain Ranch in Goodyear and the air since last night smells very smokey. Pretty nasty smelling.

Do you smell/see the smoke in the air from where you are in the valley?

I was on the west side on Saturday and could see the flames from the 101. It was crazy looking.

I'm in South Phoenix and can still smell it. Yesterday morning is was really bad and had to keep the windows closed all day because of the smell.

Unfortunately we have to keep our doors/windows closed too. This type of smoke is giving us a headache.

They said this morning the smoke was moving to the south, so that makes sense that you are not smelling it there.

It still stinks here in South Phoenix. Not a very pleasant smell. Its not as bad as when I was back in IL and MN had a big forest fire raging, and the smoke drifted all the way to Chicagoland. It was the most pungent stench, it smelled awful. It was so bad you could taste it, and it tasted/smelled like burning leaves mixed with burning plastic, truly disgusting. Ill take this any day!

The good news for now is the smoke smell is gone in Estrella since about noon and the mountains don't have that haze I saw this morning. In our parts anyways, if the wind shifts from the north, we should be ok.
