Maybe a recent windstorm dropped a school of flying fish on your roof. Have you been up there recently?

Its a combination of wet dust and dirty pavement. It rarely rains here so the streets, etc, accumulate oil, dust, gas, grease, etc, and the smells are accentuated by the rain. The monsoons smell good, because the blowing winds push the wet Creosote scent through the air, and I think it smells wonderful. Today's rain? Smells like garbage, I dont like it.

It smells just like monsoon to me today. But then, we have a lot more creosote than those others things you mentioned out here in the sticks.

Here in the concrete jungle it smells like arse. Not a pleasant smell at all. I love the monsoons when the wind blows out of the east, bringing that sweet scent of Creosote.

Both places I've lived smelled after it rained. It is not unique to Arizona.

A smell after rain is normal. It's the stink that's the issue here.

Back in Iowa it smelled like earth. It was a very clean, refreshing smell. You opened the windows to let the smell in. Here you close them to keep the smell out

That was the best smell on earth, was it not? I loved a rain in IL, after the roses bloomed and the grass was cut, accompanied by the cooler air. Oh was that a great smell!!!!

I like the Creosote-scented rains here in summer, but the winter rains reek.

I'v e never smelled the creosote smell. Just the gross wet dust smell.

Yes, fresh cut grass and a thunderstorm...ahh the best smell there is!
