Ok...fellow formers. I would like your advice or experiences in each location. If people could give their reasons why they choose their current homes and if they would do it again.

I'm in Estrella, I chose it for the quiet nice neighbourhood with nice resident facilities and golf course. I don't work so commute is irrelevant to me. I get to live in a wonderful community while having the amenities of millions a short drive away. Houses are reasonably priced. Generally never cross downtown so traffic also very light at all times.

In most of Goodyear, you better LOVE "the Sound Of Freedom". It would be a show-stopper for me. As in, it would stop me dead in my tracks. Estella area is much more palatable in that regard.

So between the two; Queen Creek.

My wife and I chose Goodyear (Estrella also) when we moved to Arizona 3.5 years ago. However, we limited our search to 55+ communities. The search included two communities near Queen Creek, Encanterra and Encore, and all the major newer 55+ communities in metro Phoenix. We are happy we chose the West Valley. More house for the money, less traffic on vehicular roads and hiking trails, and generally quieter. Goodyear is one of the faster growing West Valley communities with all the services we need. City government seems to operate cohesively, which allows for the current rapid and well-planned growth.

The only thing we would maybe do differently is move closer to a freeway than we currently are. Once on I-10, Loop 101 or Loop 303, we can get anywhere in metro Phoenix quickly as long as we plan our I-10 travel around rush hour. Of course, close freeway access is available in other parts of Goodyear (I.e. other than Extrella).

Your mileage may vary. Depending on what qualities you are looking for, you have many good choices.

If you look at the sound pressure contour maps, Goodyear (North of the 10) are in the thick of it.

In the West Valley especially in Goodyear and Litchfield Park, it's a common phrase.

I've lived in Goodyear for 11 years and "most" of Goodyear is not affected by aircraft noise. Maybe you have not looked at a map of Goodyear as "most" of Goodyear isn't in any noise corridor.

If you look at the Luke AFB flight path map there are more over Surprise then there are Goodyear. The very top northwest corner is the only place you'll have to deal with aircraft noise. A very small portion of Goodyear is above the I-10 and not all of that is subject to noise.

It is funny I've lived here for 11 years and hear "the sound of freedom" from my coworkers that live in Surprise and El Mirage more than I have ever heard anyone say it from Goodyear.
