I went to old town last night. Disappointed in the bartending. Wanted a hurricane. Apparently it isnt popular here or a drink with more than two ingredients is too complicated.

Anyone know where I can find a good bartender that can make one in scottsdale?

How about one of the bars in a ritzy resort-type hotel?

That’s a weird thing to order outside of New Orleans. I’m not surprised that it’s not in a bartender’s normal repertoire. We do have some fantastic cocktail bars though. For something fruity like that, Hula’s or the Drunk Monk will do. If you want to get a bit classier, head to Phoenix to Bitter and Twisted, Undertow, Honor Among Theives or Little Rituals.

Not really.

You can order a Hurricane in any Cajun or Creole restaurant. Might as well have some food to soak up all that booze.

Fine, outside of New Orleans or a similarly themed restaurant. It’s an odd thing to order at a regular bar where most people are drinking vodka, beer or wine. I could see getting some weird looks from the bartenders.

Bartenders ought to have the "Bartender's Bible."

Recipe book, organized and succinct.

I've never ordered a Hurricane. I've never been with someone that ordered a Hurricane. I've never seen anyone order a Hurricane. The only reason I know what a Hurricane is would be it's featured on shows I've seen about New Orleans. Maybe don't assume a bartender is familiar with a regional drink? Tell 'em what you want in the drink.

Ocean Trail at Talking Stick offers $6 Bacardi Hurricanes every Tuesday, all day.

The food looks fantastic. It's on our short list.

Same. Never had a hurricane. I thought I'd try one when I visit New Orleans again one day. (I went as a kid). Never thought to order one any other time.
