Texas-------->Phoenix. FINALLY!

Need to do all the normal state to state move stuff, but I was wondering if the MVD (DPS in TX) is open to change over my license? If not, does anyone have any suggestions or tips? Any would be appreciated. I want to get rid of my Texas license and plates ASAP.

Thanks!

They are open for services, like yours, that can't be done online. Go to www.azmvd.gov and there is info and a phone number to call.

I've been calling and calling, no one answers. It just said "call back later" lol. Wonder how they want those of us coming from out of state to comply with getting the new license if they won't answer their phone?

Ok I just found out I can do all of this at a 3rd party MVD type place. Vehicle transfers and even our new drivers licenses for a small extra fee. Sweet!

Just FYI, MVD is run really well here in normal times and it is not worth the extra fees for the 3rd party places. Also when you do driver's license get one of the Real ID ones (they have both). They are pricey and expire in only 8 years, but eventually you will find it useful for travel.

No, MVD is not open. You can request an appt with them if you can ever get through on the phone. Just a note, I called that number on 4/21 when they were doing the computer upgrades. They said they would call me with an appt in my local office on Wed or Thursday that week. That call never came.
I have sent two messages with no response and the phone number they want you to call will only result in a recording telling you they are swamped. It's been that way since last Friday.
For the OP. You are going to have to have your vehicle inspected for the VIN numbers and maybe a smog check depending on where you are going to live.
At least that's the way it was when I moved back to AZ a few years back.
Yes you can go through a 3rd party, maybe with out of state stuff. I don't know if they do inspections. But they wanted to have me drop off the title of a vehicle I bought 4 weeks ago through a slot and then they would call to get my credit card number. I would rather slide the card than give the number out to someone I don't know.
