I was there from 1979 - 1984 and there was a cafeteria in or near Scottsdale whose name I don't remember. It had individual-sized bottles of parducci wine, and a French atmosphere.

Also, more in Scottsdale, there was a place (C.J. something?) that had good food, including croissants that were so good they were once mentioned in Vogue magazine.

Does anybody remember these places? Those who can't, here in Ohio, are wracking our brains! Thanks.

You might be thinking of a place called "Caf Casino," a popular cafeteria with a French influence. It was located next to the old Cine Capri at 24th & Camelback in the Biltmore Area of Phoenix, about five miles west of the Phoenix / Scottsdale border. The site has since been redeveloped into office buildings and condos.

Default Caf' Casino

Dear Silver Bear,
That's it! Thank you so much! We were wracking our brains to remember it! My apologies for the tardy response. I signed up, posted my question, then lost track of all of it until I got a reminder today that I had a reply. I had forgotten my login info, but the link took me to my Username, because I had mail. Thanks again! We're so pleased. And grateful.

Cheers!
Nancy

Smile Caf' Casino ... One of my Favorites!!

Oh, how I do miss Caf' Casino. They had two locations actually, one at 24th & Camelback, (by the old Cine Capri theater) and the other at Scottsdale Rd. & McDowell! I used to frequent the one in Scottsdale, since it was a shorter drive. Amazing rolls, and wonderful desserts. *Sigh*, sure do miss that place!
