But here is the thing I am willing to pay for private school if it means my kids will get a better education. My son is ADHD and needs a good structure. I will not risk my kids getting beat up for being the "new kid" or not being the "right color" as I have read in other posts on here(he is white, my daughter is mayan~she is adopted from Guatemala) I need a place both of my kids will fit in and receive good educations. Thanks...my husband is applying at Phoenix PD as a lateral transfer. Crossing my fingers and toes that it is a fast process and he get the offer before school starts in August. Thanks everyone for your replies~I love to read this forum!

Follow the money. If a neighborhood has houses for around $100 sq/ft or less, probably not a good school district. I hate to say this, but look for white kids. Not that the presence of minorities is a bad indicator, but the absence of whites is. Just my opinion.

Scottsdale has a great public school system, their test scores are among the highest in the state. Deer Valley and Peoria Unified are both Excellent, A+, school systems.

Arizona has a poor public school system, especially in the southern areas of phoenix.

Paradise Valley is a great district, good quality schools IMO. Deer Valley is another I would recommend.

$100 sq/ft is average for homes in AZ. My parents house is 1400sq ft and was only 114k back in 2000. During 2005 it was worth $260k, now its like $130k. I live in a very low crime area of N Phoenix (7th St & 101).

You're right. 100 is too low unless you are talking about one of the 3500 sf McMansion boxes built a couple years back. 130 is a closer value for single stories and smaller homes. (as a barometer of school quality). It's not a perfect indicator but there is clearly a positive correlation between income of the students' parents and the quality of the school. It's the same pretty much everywhere these days.
