Hi,
I'm relocating to Phoenix. I'm looking for 1 bedroom apartment for less than $1,000 a month in a safe neighborhood for a young woman professional. My office will be on E. Van Buren and N 44th st. I'm looking for an apartment within 30 mins commute time. Thank you for your help.

You shouldn't have too much trouble. I'd look in the "east valley". Scottsdale, Mesa, Tempe and Chandler are probably your best bets.

just stay away from the area around 24th st and Van Buren you may be in for a shock. Hookers, rundown hotels, crackheads, drug dealers galore. Also, don't forget the the State Mental Hospital.

$1,000 a month will get you into a much nicer area than Van Buren, you can get a house for that much, or a condo/townhome.

The OP isn't looking for a place ON Van Buren, but within a 30 minute commute from 44th and Van Buren, the work location. There are MANY places that fit that parameter that have nothing to do with Van Buren itself.

Sorry, I was refering to the post above mine about 24th and Van Buren.

You can commute from North Phoenix in about 20 minutes to Downtown if you take the 51, so you are really open to options.

What is your liftstyle like? Do you want to be near certain things?

I wasnt tell her to move there she would be close to nice areas in Tempe and Scottsdale right down the street from where she will be working. I was telling her to avoid 24th St and Van Buren area.

Thank you for all your help. I'm looking for a place that doesn't have lots of tall buildings, but also close to ASU. I narrowed a place down to 4 apts.
1. on W Chandler Blvd & 101
2. on E Warner Rd & N Arizona Ave
3. on S Higley Rd & E Southern Ave
4. on E Baseline Rd & S Rural Rd

I'm not sure which area is safe and how long is the commute time on weekday. Please help.
Thanks,
