I do not see any signs of PNC Park poking out behind the end of the Fort Duquesne Bridge. You should be able to see the blue outline lights the park has around its exterior. PNC Park was built in 2001 and I can't tell if any construction is going on, so I would see mid-late 90's...

Yeah, it doesn't look like the Mellon logo is on Mellon One. This article says that happened in 1994, so the picture might be pre-that?

Guess the moon was a lot closer to the earth back then.

The mouse over squares have a reference to how Andy Warhol reviled Pittsburgh, but the city named a museum after him anyway. I've seen to films about about people who were in Andy Warhol's life. Warhol seems to be a real self-centered jerk. One of the films starred Sienna Miller, who referred to the city as Sh*tsburgh. Warhol doesn't seem to bring out the best in people.

There's also a reference to emoticons but they don't mention the university (it says a local university) or the computer scientist. And the same people who gave us "Clippy", the annoying "helper", diss emoticons.

If you click the underlined text in the box (I think it says something like, and now you know who to thank...or blame) it will take you to a search that will allow you find out that Scott Fahlman at CMU invented the emoticon.

Oh damn, that was way obvious! I wasn't paying attention to that side of the pic. All the buildings that made way for PNC Park are still there looks like, so had to be, hm, probably at least 1998, 1997 or earlier, something like that.

1994 sounds too early, but I guess that's right. I remember FreeMarkets as I said, and Federated. The article mentions those being next. And yeah, really hard to say for certain, but it doesn't look like there's anything on One Mellon in that pic, so that would date it to 1994 or earlier then.

Of course, it's not like the place looks a ton different now.

So it was a "teaser".

I don't mind the signs on the buildings--I think it makes the city look alive and busy, especially at night. Shows we have business, versus potentially empty buildings.

I prefer its alternative name, "Jeffrey Romoff's Non-Profit Pleasure Palace".
