Neck will be broken and that is that. I won't put up with it.
It is pretty cool that Chuck Norris lives here, in Pittsburgh.

We had just bought a brand new camera this summer and my wife was alone in the park, minding her own business, when a dog ran up to her, got tangled in her ear buds, and knocked her down. The owners reaction? They said "sorry" while walking away. She ended up spraining her ankle. I of course wish I had been there, but on the other hand, if I was, I most certainly would have ended up in jail. Thats why it upsets me even worse that these same folks are walking their dogs off leash in our neighborhoods.

That is the same response my wife got. Seems so many dog owners are real a-holes in that park for some reason. They feel they are right and anyone that doesn't have a dog is in the wrong somehow. Kind of an odd thing. I don't care for the feel of that and it will most likely keep me from returning to Frick Park. It is just overrun with dogs. They have fenced areas, but they aren't used for some reason.

I just got back from a brisk walk through Frick Park and I see what you mean. I saw around 10 dogs in the space of an hour and only one was on a leash, though that couple's OTHER dog was not. I wasn't menaced by any of them, though, and only one paid me any attention, so no big deal this time around.

This thread reminds me of a trip I took to Germany some years ago, where I was surprised to see dogs much more tolerated in the public sphere than they are here. I only occasionally saw a leash and seemed to be allowed in just about every shop I saw. It was interesting how different the approach to dogs was there compared to what I was used to in the US.

Only 10. That isn't bad, usually there would be 20 or 30.

That has been my experience also. You can easily see 10 dogs an hour while walking through Frick Park, any time during the day, all year round. Only 1 in 10 dogs being on a leash, is pretty much norm.

Owner complains... mace them too!

Problem solved.
You mace my dog, I put a bullet in you.

Would you go to jail for that? Does the "self-defense" concept extend to one's canine companion?

It does in fact confer a credible threat upon my person if you're attacking my dog which would 99.99% likely be right next to me.
