Yep...a mid-market team operating like a small market team.

At least there's still "We are family" and 1979.

You know, I hate doing this. erieguy is right. The only people getting fleeced by the Pirates are the fans that spend their money on the team only to be betrayed by ownership and/or management. Today's final trade giving up two top ten prospects effectively in exchange for some cash is insane. If that money isn't well spent on someone big outside of the organization in the off season, the team can kiss my money goodbye until new owners are in town.

Today was a debacle but no surprise. Big time $$$ dump with "prospects, prospects, prospects" traded and 2 players TBA. I heard analytics says that 2020 is their year so you can't expect them to hang onto or spend on salaries until then.

On the bright side, tix prices probably won't go up next season.

I haven't been as disgusted with this team in a while as I was yesterday. Why the heck does it seem like when other teams dump their guys at the deadline, they get actual prospects. And the Pirates get journeymen middle relievers at best. I know Chapman and Miller are high end guys, but come on.... should the haul be that different?

Even Neal Walker for one year..... they couldn't do better than Niese?

Then you are dumping Liriano..... most other teams would throw in cash (see AJ Burnett deal to the Pirates) to offset salary. We throw in two top ten prospects.... are you kidding me? I've been led to believe that McGuire was our catcher of the future.... already MLB defense ready. I have every reason to believe Liriano will pitch well there. He pitched good the last two years and still shows glimpses.

This guy may be able to find middle relievers and closers, but his trades suck.

I'm surprised they made it as far they have the last 3 years with the way they operate. I thought what's happening this year wouldve started last year...but there were some bad teams they beat up on. You can only sign so many of these reclamation and borderline MLB players before it doesn't work.

Now other teams are getting better and they're playing the same game and it's caught up to them. It's boggling how they operate and still sell so many tix.

Don't worry everyone, that money is being invested into the farm system!

Is that excuse still being used?

Yep. Future, future, future, prospects, prospects, prospects, etc...

The highlight of ownership and NH's tenure is Cueto dropping the ball and winning that game.
