Denver. Even my family from Pittsburgh thought/thinks (some are now gone) the mountains are awesome. My brother (Moon Twp) asked how we get any work done with the mountains to look at. My parents (Beaver Falls) were just in awe of them. The hospital where our kids were born is in west Boulder, close to the mountains, and my dad would always tell people back in Pittsburgh "They were born at the foot of the Rockies".
Portland, OR Similar to Pittsburgh with hills and trees, plus a couple rivers.
Great Falls, MT. Yes, smaller, but still impressive. The falls are really cool.
You can’t ask family that’s seen the same city regularly for years to make a comparison. Of course, they’ll start to get bored with it. You’d have to ask visitors. And I definitely don’t have anything against Denver. It looks beautiful.

These were unsolicited comments, but I'm always wrong on this forum. Carry on. Pittsburgh is the only place with great views and theirs are better than any other city's.

boulder was pretty cool but really didn't feel like a city. there aren't any high rises. the view is also a little underwhelming as it is pretty flat until you get into the mountains, which are gorgeous. you get out of the airport and its like, this is it?

Boulder is barely over 100,000 people, of course it's not going to feel like a city. Boulder is hillier than places to the east. Yes, the airport area is quite "blah" looking. That's probably what makes it good for an airport.

I actually agree with a lot of what you wrote. You got me to seriously consider a vacation in Denver. I’m just pointing out that a family member who has lived in one location for years would be desensitized. I’m not sure what the confusion is. If someone has given both cities a fair shot and thinks Pittsburgh's scenery is cool but Denver's is better, I don't have a problem with that.

Honestly I was unimpressed with Denver. I had a work project there about 6 years ago and was in the area for 2 months. The skyline is beautiful but it is just a backdrop to see from some areas. The city itself, while clean and nice, nothing really stood out and the surrounding areas were flat and mostly new generic construction. I wouldnt go back, can't think of a reason to. Now up in the mountains that's different, I'd love to spend a week up in nature there though some people have altitude issues.

Oh but the food options were much better than Pgh though I don't vacation for food options.
