I wasn't able to go to a wedding of the son of someone I've known since elementary school. I want to send a gift card, hoping not to do the usual "Home Depot, Lowe's, etc." - I honestly don't know them (the people who married well at all) - thought I could get a gift card for a nice restaurant (or any other tips for something in the Pgh. area?) - TIA for any help.

Hyeholde in Coraopolis. Not my favorite food but the setting is unbeatable.

Umami, Casbah and Soba. I believe you can get a gift card for them and I would go by that order. If you want a nice day trip the best restaurant I know is Out of the Fire in Donegal. I wouldn't go to Coraopolis for just okay food. Eleven is okay and that part near downtown isn't bad. I'm down with that selection as I am the biggest foodie on this board.

If that doesn't work out, everyone likes a grocery store gift card. TJ's and Whole Foods are city favorites.

Haha yeah maybe not. But I've had some great Indian cuisine in the dumpiest of places that I wish had a nicer ambience. Hyeholde's food in excellent but pricey.

Meat and Potatoes is another potential option (I actually think the food here is better than eleven, but not the atmosphere). I ate there last time I was in town and really enjoyed it.

If you're looking for something bigger - i think the eddie merlot's in pitt does a good job.

If you get them a Big Burrito group gift card, they would have lots of choices, including Eleven (which is great) and some more casual places like Mad Mex.
