Default Apartments at Broad St.

New to Pittsburgh looking for a decent (read safe) area for an apartment to move into along with my wife.
Any clue about Bates St (Fairfield Apartments)? and surrounding area. Is the area safe considering my late night/evening commutes from the town and wife being alone all day at home?

Suggestions/opinions appreciated..!

What about over by the Theological Seminary? On North Sheridan. Spotcrime.com has nothing noted recently. Is this area ok? Quiet? I need quiet and fairly safe...

Right now I live in Mt. Washington and I'm being surrounded by ghetto / white trash / welfare / section 8 repugnants. I'd like to find something in the Regent Square or Friendship / Bloomfield areas but it seems those tenants are doing what I'd do if I lived there - STAYING PUT!

Hey does anyone know how Penn Plaza is??? I know early early in the summer there was a stabbing in one of the buildings... Was that an isolated incident or a true reflection of the Penn Plaza Apartments?
