Your over-generalization that opposition to THIS one Mosque/community center (because re-naming something changes it completely right? ), in THIS location, pushed by THIS imam who supports Shariah, from unknown/undisclosed funding as an attack against ALL Islam is an outright lie and grasp in desperation
You keep repeating that this man "supports Shariah" but have yet to give us any kind of link to this info. I only ask because, based on what I have seen and read elsewhere, I really don't think he does. So, if you are going to keep repeating this, I think you should prove it.
I find it somewhat disingenuous for the Left to be defending religious freedom, rights and all that stuff when they routinely disparage, demean and attack Christianity.
They will go to the mat for the rights of muslims.
The difference between the Left and the Right is this: The Left may criticize your religion but as long as you don't force your religion down other peoples throats we respect your right to worship as you please.
The Right aspires to take awy the rights of any and all that don't look like them, think like them or act like them.

Because the Right NEVER lets FACTS get in the ideaology. If it did the Conservative Right would collapse like a cheap suit. The entire movement is based on ignorance, hate, bigotry and fear.
He really has no say in what goes on in a New York neighborhood. As a matter of fact, I think the opinion that should be given the most weight is that of the residents of the neighborhood in which this building will be located. They bore the damage and health implications of 9/11 and are stoically putting up with the noise and traffic of the WTC reconstruction. They've made their voices known on both those matters and their viewpoint gets taken into consideration.
There are approximately 50,000 of them, and their representative community board approved the plan in May. The reporting of that approval in the New York Post and the way it was presented, complete with outright false information (typical of the NY Post) is what started this furor in the first place.
Tell me this: Why isn't there more anger directed that the community board near Ground Zero in New York City?
Why isn't there more anger directed at New York City Council and the zoning agency tha approve this location for a Muslim Cultural Center?
Why isn't there more anger directed at Mayor Bloomberg for his approval of the Muslim Cultural Center?
All of these parties had far more influence and involvement than President Obama did in determinating the location of this Muslim Cultural Center yet most of the anger and venom is directed at President Obama.
It is completely legal and constitutional to open a porn shop in my town, but you can't cause we wont allow it. can't wait for obama to weigh in on this one
There is a totally different legal standards in place to opening a porn shop as opposed to a place of worship.
I'd suggest you take a look at the law and judicial precedence before equating the two types of establishments.

Because Obama is Black, a muslim, born in Kenya to a Jewish mother and a communist father, raised in Indonesia and schooled in radical terrorist doctrine who wants to take over the country from real Americans by passing health care for all citizens and using an army of illiterate Mexicans to over run the country and fill it with Anchor babies who will become educated in our schools and then take over all financial markets and demand free bicycles in every city while rounding up all white people and herding them into FEMA camps and demanding that we all drive electric cars by 2020. Did I mention that he is black?
