It is obvious he eats them while on the road, while visiting towns, vacationing and when invited. Also, considering his job as the POTUS is probably very stressful, he is gonna want to eat those things every now and then. Increased stress levels make us want to eat "junk food."

EDIT: The internet reveals all of our self-righteousness.
Wow, I think you're responding to EVERY post on here! Good for you!
FYI, if our president is going to pig out on fat-filled, artery-clogging, heart attack inducing burgers and other garbage, as a stress-reliever as you put it, ONE WOULD THINK HE WOULD DO IT IN PRIVATE AND NOT IN A PUBLIC RESTAURANT WITH 10 PHOTOGRAPHERS AROUND AND A WIFE WHO IS OUT HINTING AT SALT AND FAT REGULATIONS TO AMERICA!!!!!

Seems like a good and smart idea to me!!!!!
What's up with his behavior there????

Were you offended when Nancy Reagan told you to say no to drugs? If an admittedly liberal educator tells you to read to your children, are you going to refrain from doing so because you didn't like the messenger?

If someone stands up and asks (which is what Michelle is doing here, not "demanding") that restaurants serve healthier food, why would anyone not support them? I think the government eventually requiring that the food we eat be healthy is a good thing because it is the sole institution that can assert that kind of authority. It is an example of the common people in action. Too bad conservatives think government serves no purpose other than to wage war and waste lives.
I believe that we are sick of Obama and his job-choking regulations and OBAMACARE. She, with her strong anti-salt talk, seems like a threat to our food choices. We would not be surprised if next week we hear that a new 'salt regulation' is being proposed.

This is how the gangster WH has behaved. You hear an uptick on a certain topic, and next thing you know, regulations ensue.

We are sick of Obama, Michelle and all their gangster cohorts.

They have all treated us like we are ingorant Americans and that we need them to 'tell us what to do', like we are children. Enough is enough.

Remember to vote in November!!!!!

Isn't the Tea Party doing what you claim the Obamas are doing? Aren't they acting as if America needs someone to lead them to the promised land by telling them how they should act and behave? Um, Americans ARE ignorant! They are obese, they think in binary terms (no shades of gray) and they act like children (rude, insensitive, spoiled).

What qualities do you want in a leader? Is a leader someone who leads by telling you "You're own your own!" or do you want someone who says "This is the best direction"? Didn't Bush2 say that war was the right direction? Wasn't he telling us ignorant Americans "what to do" (i.e., go to war, kill people, etc.)? Didn't his Administration tell us to spy on each other? Talk about imposing one's will on others. And yet, it's Michelle who, in this thread's instance, is taking away your freedoms? This does not compute.

I don't like many of those that have surrounded Obama and I despised the idiots whom Bush2 picked. But the message Obama presents is far more unifying, more thoughtful, and has more potential to fix this country than his predecessor. Granted, words are words, and great rhetoric can indeed ring hollow if actions don't follow, but Obama is an example of a better leader than Bush2. Not the ideal leader I'd want (I want the whole truth and nothing but the truth), but certainly not "arrogant", "dictatorial", and "socialist" like the lesser intelligent amongst us have chosen to label him. I didn't vote for him (read my status) so my defense of him is nonpartisan. Oh, and...

Remember to vote INDEPENDENT in November!

I wonder how many people were up in arms against Barbara Bush advocating literacy. I do not recall people being "tired" and "fed up" if her implying our families were uneducated morons. The hypocrisy is simply stunning. Here is a link - just in case you need to voice your disgust:
Home - Barbara Bush Foundation

As longs as things are not mandatory, I have zero issues with first ladies taking up good causes. And yes, "good" for them may not be good for everyone, but then again, I dont think even god can please everyone.

Sodium is required for us to live. Without it, we would die. We get sodium through many ways naturally through foods anyway.

How about you state your position rather than making mentions of how I should go read about the issue and then somehow come to the same process of reasoning that you have and mysteriously understand whatever point you may have to make?

You seem to be implying that you know what this is, so please share with us so we can see your position and properly respond to it.

Please point out where anyone told you that it is unhealthy to eat any salt and therefore it will be illegal to purchase it unless it is on the black market. Thank you.

The current recommendation is to consume less than 2,400 milligrams (mg) of sodium a day. This is about 1 teaspoon of table salt per day. It includes ALL salt and sodium consumed, including sodium used in cooking and at the table.

People with high blood pressure should consume less sodium as recent research has shown that people consuming diets of 1,500 mg of sodium had better blood pressure lowering benefits. These lower-sodium diets also can keep blood pressure from rising and help blood pressure medicines work better.

The American Heart Association recommends that for every 1,000 Calories of food consumed, the sodium intake should be 1,000 mg and should not exceed the 3,000 mg limit.

The average intake in the United States is between 4,000 and 5,000 mg of sodium per day.

Would you know where he got those burgers? They looked delicious!

Ans I will defend to the death his right to eat them! Pass the salt ....

She was never able to get her hubby to read an entire book.

Must be frustrating.

She should know better then trying to educate people in the amount of salt and fat people cram into their mouths.

That's okay though. We can all pay the price of letting people get sicker and fatter as years go by, especially never knowing what goes into their food. That's okay though, the people that are complaining the most are the ones who do so between mouthfuls of fried chicken and dumplings. They are signing their own death warrant through stupidity, while everyone else pays the bill.
