IMMEDIATELY! Big rally in the stock market and companies would start hiring knowing that taxes are going down and socialized medicine is going away!

Who knows, since the economy turning around wouldn't really be dependent on the Republicans gaining a majority in Congress anyway. The market will correct itself when it corrects itself, because we know we're not bringing back any of those outsourced jobs with either corporatist party in power.

If the GOP took control, the economy will turn around just as it did under Bush 43...the way water turns when you flush a toilet...in a downward spiral.

I wonder how long it takes to put the car in Reverse? We certainly wouldn't want to get out of the ditch.

As even our economy cannot collapse faster than the speed of light it would hang on to the event horizon forever. This is exactly what the owners of the economy want. That would protect their privilege while the rest of us collapse into poverty and despair.

If the Rs get majorities in the house and senate, and deliver on policies that reduce government spending, the debt and support economic growth, and if they can get them through Obama without his veto, how long do you think it will take for the economy to turn around? Specifically for the unemployment rate to fall below 6%, foreclosures to drop and housing starts to take off?

Which Repug period did they reduce spending? They already said they would increase the military.. so that isn't the way to do it. their best idea is trickle down which never works so just where are those jobs coming from?

as to housing there is so much bad paper out there it will take years to sort through regardless of administration and I'd say much of the current housing issues came from the Bush era... just check the age of the loans that are defaulting.... 2003-2006 is what i'm seeing everyday. I think Im yet to see one that dates back to Clinton

So we switch back to the party that has done nothing good for the economy and it will make the mess get worse and in 2 years the repugs will be blamed and they will get voted out again...it is a cycle caused by shortsighted voters with poor memories.\

Why let a good disaster go to waste?

Once we get control back in January things will turn around much quicker than they would with the socialists still in control. Wal lStreet hos more confidence in proven Republican leadership than in the income-redistributing Dems. I predict that within 6 months of Republican leadership the economy will be well on its way to a healthy recovery. Unemployment will be down one to one and a half points by then. Currently, with the dems in power, it is still trending up.
The economic problems in this country go back a lot further than "4 years". I would see the starting point at some legislation that passed under Clinton's watch and a process which continued through his Presidency and through that of Bush II into the present.

There is a lot of blame that can be directed at both parties. Anyone who thinks that one party is solely to blame, and that the other will make everything better, is just...well....ignorant.
