Seems like a stupid move on CNN's part. He was one of the few interesting people on that channel - precisely because he'd occasionally say something zany.
Jewish people are openly discriminated against all the time. Not enough to satisfy someone who doesn't like Jews (you, for example); but still, it happens all the time and it's out in the open. Even the backhanded "compliments" they deal with are poorly hidden attacks.
Maybe CNN will replace Sanchez, who once killed a man while driving drunk, with one of those horrible, terrible entertainment industry Jews you can't stand so much who are "guilty" of being Jewish. I hope that's exactly what they do.
"Jewish" is NOT a race. Saying that is a fact, not an anti-jewish opinion. And there's anti-semitism, but in mainstream America Sanchez is right.
Aren't we all getting a little too sensitive here? Rick Sanchez is entitled to his own opinion and it's not like he made a racial slur against Jon Stewart or something. This is ridiculous.
It's probably not so much what he said about Jon Stewart as what he said about CNN and the implications he made about Jews in the process.

I agree. I really liked Rick as I thought as he in touch with the people.
And can we not get anymore "CNN has the right to fire him blah blah" posts? I *know* that they are fully within their *right* to fire him, I just think they're overreacting and it's indicative of a problem in our culture.

Normally I would actually agree with this. But he called out his bosses in this case. If he would have called them "morons" or "idiots" instead he would still be done with the company.
The real story here is that Sanchez, who has had a history of doing less than stellar things anyway, went on a talk show that pretty much nobody knows and ended up insulting his bosses at CNN, which is still a major player in the media world. Not a smart move. CNN didn't take his job away from him as much as he gave it away.
