the minimum wage should be the same everywhere: $0. Labor is a commodity; governments make messes when they decree commodities' prices. Washington, which has its hands full delivering the mail and defending the shores, should let the market do well what Washington does poorly.
You do understand why the govt has a minimum wage dont you? Government needs a minimum wage and to increase minimum wage every once in awhile to align federal spending with borrowing. Thats how the government dictates how much debt to take on because they take a calculation of what the earnings is of the nation and what the expected tax revenue is, to equate how much can be borrowed. Whenever they go to increase minimum wage, lookout, increased deficits are surely to follow..

should not the need for an employee (supply and demand) help to set the wage???

or should we have the dear old uncle sam determine what you are worth.....maybe next uncle sam can tell us what jobs we can and cant have

I didnt try to define it, I was making my own determination as to what happened and pointing out the clear hypocracy of an individual whining that a personal attack was made even though it wasnt, but replied in likeness.

Clearly I am entitled to freedom of speech, unless you own city-data.com

no attack was throw at you

btw ASKING someone if they are or are not a person who supports something is not a personal attack......my question was legit....

are you one of those liberals that support the liberal eugenics program???

your distain for people with 'lower iq' would make anyone think the answer might be yes....but you never answered the question....hmmm

I have 2 children with learing disabilities, one is slow (an 88iq), the other is borderline asbergers (with a 140 iq)...my iq is supposedly at 128, but I could care less ablout numbers....

but apparently you do

you do realize that with the correct training a monkey could do many skilled tasks.. even go into space....yet you seem to think a person with a 80-90 iq cant....you are the one doing the personal attacks, as you are attacking groups of people

and yes the eugenics program was from the liberals, it was considered a progressive program
You're wrong again. I do not have "distain" for people with low IQs. I never said that and I never implied it. My point was that people have DIFFERENT IQs and DIFFERENT abilities, therefore, some people do fine in some minimum wage jobs but will never be able to compete with someone like you, who has an IQ of 128. That's simply a FACT. So the premise that only kids work in minimum wage jobs is just absurd. Adults work for minimum wage as well, and for some adults that is the top of their capacity.

It's time for you tonstop with you attempts to make me look like a villian. I have worked with many people who have IQs in the 70s and below. I know that it's impossible for those people to compete for jobs with people who have much higher IQs. I'm sure there are people out there who with much higher IQs than mine who can do work which I cannot do.......

As for this "eugenics program" which you linked to abortion, when you tried to insult me earlier, tell me about that or at least give me a link.

So you are now putting words in my mouth and attributing thoughts and attitudes to me.

So asking you if you support white supremacists is not a personal attack, just a question, a "legit" question, according to your logic.

The fact that I argued in support of the minimum wage on behalf of people with low IQs indicates to you that I have "distain" for low IQ people. Now that's interesting.

No, dear, I do not support any "eugenics program" now, nor have I EVER supported any such thing. I certainly was not even born in 1930! Your question was intended to insult me, and you succeeded.

illusion....you mean the liberal illusion that everyone must have an entitlement....sorry pal, but you need to IMPROVE YOURSELF

we (humans) go to school to LEARN and IMPROVE ourselve

we (humans) learn a trade to provide a living

here is a question for you...do you think I just became 15yrs old and was suddenly a class"a" mechanic with 30 years on the job????

at 15, I was working a paper rout...at 16 (finaly getting my workingpapers) worked at whitecastle for some gas money...at 18 grad HS and got a job as a 'new car prep',, WORKED my way up to class"c" mechanic...then to class"b" mech, then to "a",,then to shop foreman, to finaly maintenance supervisor

sorry to inform you but people dont stay at mininum wage jobs unless they are satisfied with just that, being UNSKILLED
What happens when every goes to school and trade school then realize that there are not enough positions for everyone. There are only x amount of higher paying jobs out there. Someone has to do the lower paying jobs.

you are correct, there is just so many jobs

but many scoff at certain jobs, without even thinking about them

people make good livings being a bus driver, or a cop, or a fireman, or a garbageman, but many will look at these jobs like they are beneath them

our local garbagemen make about 35/hr....not bad for a worker bee

having the governmnet set a minimum wage does nothing but drive costs up, and increase unemployment
