Merry Giftmas to all, and to all a happy holiday season!
Or Merry Yule
Or Happy Solstice
Or Happy Chanukah
Or whatever you celebrate. It's not for me to say, and whatever holiday you celebrate at this time of year is not going to upset me. I don't understand why it upsets you.
I'm not Christian; I'm Irish pagan. But I know that in this country and Europe Christmas is the ultimate holiday. It's right after the solstice and heralds the new summer to come. The Romans celebrated Sol Invictus, the feast of the unconquered sun. Christmas in our society combines it all. I hate seeing Happy Holidays, Season's Greetings, or hearing talk of winter holidays; it's Christmas; and I say Merry Christmas and like to hear it from the cashier at any store. I'll do my best to shop at stores whose owners aren't afraid to use the word.
Honestly I repeat whatever is said to me. If someone says "Merry Christmas" I repeat the same, if I'm told "Happy Holidays" I say the same, etc. Christmas is not a religious holiday anymore, at least not in America. I bet well over half of the Christians in this nation couldn't even identify the supposed "true" origins of Christmas (the Biblical account) and far less could identify the true origins of Christmas. (the pagan origins)
Whoopeeee, nastiness all 'round! Here's to ya!! Happy, happy....
Well I'm having fun!
