For those that are angry at my comments, who say I will excuse the gunman if he is a lefty, or who keep on pointing out how Sarah Palin has used violent and gun charged rehtoric in the past...
I don't care! The woman is still in surgery. There will be PLENTY of time to assign blame later, and I will happily be one of the people pointing fingers because my feelings on this issue are very strong. My opinions on who has a hand, who are responsible, and who encouraged this are very strong.
But all my strong feelings have to take a backseat to respect. Respect to wait till ALL the news comes out before I stand on my soapbox. They know who did this, they will find out why he did this. Have some respect for all his victims, by keeping your mouth shut and your "left or right" opinions to yourself. This man killed at least one person that we know of. Have some respect for that person.
Wait for all the information to come out, before you start gleefully martyrizing a woman who is not even dead yet. The liberals AND The conservatives on this website need to calm down. You are using a woman clinging to life as a club to hit each other. Have some respect.
I'm listening to a live press conference from the hospital where 11 victims were brought. Some updates from the head of surgery:
The congresswomen was shot through and through on one side of the head. Neurosurgeons are done with the congresswomen- she is out of surgery. They are "very optimistic" she will survive. She was reportedly lucid and following commands
The only confirmed fatality so far is a 9 year old girl (out of the 11 at this particular hospital)
Update (AP): If this is true, the “lone nut” theory is out the window:
UPDATE: Police arrest man near Thornydale and Magee Roads who is suspected of being connected to the shooting of Giffords and others. A third man is being sought.
What about the Florida politician who described her own political actions as 'bomb throwing' while her party was in the majority?
It was a map with a gun target on her district. Palin's words were to "take out" Democrats on the list. Jump a few months into the future and she gets shot.
I propose renaming the Health Reform Law the "Giffords Affordable Care Act" in honor of Rep. Giffords who voted for it (whether she lives or dies). That way, when the Republicans attempt to repeal it, everyone will be reminded of Gifford's heroic act of sacrificing herself (through her vote) in behalf of the nation.
