Countless gay couples who have married have already joined the ranks of the divorced--complete with property and custody battles. Just this week a gay couple who married in Vermont and later moved to Nebraska tried to get a divorce here in Nebraska. They couldn't divorce because Nebraska doesn't recognize marriage between same-sex couples. The judge told them they would have to establish residency in a state that not only recognizes their marriage but one that will also grant them a divorce. Would have been much cheaper to never have gotten married in the first place.

And thus a term once consigned to the dust bin of history--"gay divorcee"--has been resurrected.

There is also the financial angle. Legal marriage means spousal benefits for insurance, SS spousal benefits, survivor benefits and so on. Two guys or gals who aren't even gay could do that just to game the system for benefits. Big can of worms.

Not only did you use an appeal to tradition, you also managed to completely false in your assertions. Polygamy (as one man, multiples wives) was quite popular throughout much of history, especially amongst royalty. Heck, even the bible has many instances of polygamy.

Then, of course, homosexuality was practiced in past cultures and societies (see: Greek and Roman). And even today, there are cultures, societies, and countries that "allow" the practice of homosexuality and "allow" marriages between people of the same gender (like the Netherlands and Spain).

How so? Certainly you don't think it's impossible for a man and woman, who are not in love, to get legally married just for the aforementioned benefits. Do you?

And God has absolutely nothing to do with being legally married. What's your point?

Not the God of the Christian Bible. Christ never said a word on homosexuality... as they said above. Thanks for playing.

How do you know he didn't? There was a lot that was never written down.

Having said that, he did affirm the Mosaic Law, which explicitly condemns it. Nevermind the fact that He is God, and did explicitly condemn it, as it's recorded in the OT. The apostle Paul was also inspired to write condemning statements regarding it in his letter to the Romans.

Really...that weak argument is just not a sound argument.

Most "Christians" only pick and choose the parts of the Bible that support their own prejudices and is convenient for them to adhere to.

It is not our job to descriminate others or judge them. Only God's.
