I'm having trouble finding the good in what the governer did.

It's good that he's trying to deal with the deficit, but I fail to see cutting taxes like he did as a good thing.

A couple of questions I have in the jobs elimination are the following.

- The positions being eliminated, were their overlapping positions?
- Can the state afford to let go of that many positions?
- What are the safety ramifications for laying off prison staff?

Children and Family services should never be cut and Florida of all states should know this better than anyone.

No good will come of this, the county in which I live already has 14% unemployment, and this is supposed to help how?
Oh, it wont help.
Sorry, my bad.

All I can say is thank God my child is out of school, the cuts to schools are going to be a disaster.

I think this entire budget is one big disaster, but that's just me.

NJ, been there for a year with the school budget cuts and already feeling the effects. Due to the cuts, yes on the Local end they have layed off staff however that did not stop the 14% increase in property taxes. There have been massive Police layoffs in quite a few cities, which for many area's is a very ugly situation.

Now a year in with Christie, can't wait to see the new property tax bill that comes out in June.

Are you sure about that? I'm sure the governor will disagree if asked on television.

As it is, a few "conservatives" in the government running Texas are worried about cuts to education to handle the major economic debacle the state is in, since government happens to be the largest employer in their constituencies. There is not much left for Texas to cut.

Cut those jobs and see happy people dancing around. Conservatives sure can't create jobs, but they love to eliminate them when given a chance. Running on that platform gets them their job after all.
