It is NOT a sin in Buddhism.

I am a Buddhist.

There is nothing in the entire Tripitaka or in the Dhammapada (the body of Buddhist Canonical Law) that rejects, denounces, or forbids homosexuality. Of course if a person joins the Sangha of Bikkhus (Community of monks) then all sexual behavior is prohibited, whether heterosexual, homosexual, or solo-sexual ... that is why they are called "monks."

In fact there are gay Buddhist organizations that have official standing in the Buddhist community.

There is a famous story of a young gay man who fell in love the Tathagata (the Buddha) named Vakkali - this was recorded in the Vakkali Sutta - who never tired at looking at the Buddha's handsomeness. The Buddha instructed the young man to redirect his devotion from physical appearance to the Buddhadharma - the teachings and wisdom of Buddhism - in order to attain enlightenment. Vakkali complied and is now considered something like a saint amongst Buddhists.

That's the problem There is no 'it' it's not something that's GOING AGAINST something. It's not a CHOICE, it' s not a BEHAVIOR. it's an UNCHOSEN TRAIT. What you're saying is that an undesirable trait that you don't like that wasn't chosen means you can't be a Christian. Doesn't that really make Christianity INVALID? You're saying people born different from you are doing something wrong by existing... as if we asked to be born.

That would depend on the individual's interpretation of the message of Christ. This Christian doesn't consider homosexuality to be a sin.

No, I believe one of the main reasons of the high rate of gay suicides is because of the family not accepting his/her sexual orientation..
And many families disown their children because they believe that homosexuality is a sin. The bottom line is that intolerance such as those standing by their religious convictions enough to put their beliefs into law contribute to the suicide rate of teens and gay adults. There is only so much negative feedback a young person can tolerate before internalizing their self hate enough to kill them selves. When everybody is telling you that god hates you, that you are going to hell, that you are a sinner and that your own parents hate you, how do you think you would feel? I was lucky in that my Mom was supportive and loving regardless of our sexual orientation. My stepdad was a monster and if I had listened to him I would have wanted to kill myself before finishing High School even. Any parent that can disown or stop loving their child because they are gay, do not deserve to be parents at all.

He is incredibly swish for a straight conservative pastor.
