And again (cuz you can't answer the question), why should he have killed a single Vietnamese citizen? Especially seeing as how his problems were in Mississippi and not Hanoi.
I did not answer that because I see no reason why any US soldier should have been there.

The goverment of the US did and the draft was the law of the land.

When you have walked the walk, you can talk the talk. We were treated like lepers by some and dangerous animals by others. Fortunately I found somebody that could love me. More fortunately she is still with me.
It was not just the unwelcome back either. I was stationed at Camp Pendelton after I returned from Okinawa and we were advised not to wear our uniforms off base. Outside of Oceanside, CA, (which was still mostly friendly with Marines since their livelihood depended upon that friendship, and our paychecks) everywhere you went in California if they found out you were on Active Duty, you got called names or personally blamed for Vietnam, even if you were never there.

That irrational anti-military hatred lasted long after Vietnam and well into the Carter adminstration. It also had its intended effect on the military by significantly lowering morale. Military morale did not begin to improve until after Reagan was elected in 1980.

So was Jim Crow in many parts of the country. He defied that too every chance he got. Looks like he got defiance in his blood at an early age. That's what discrimination does to a strong person.

But again, if that makes him a coward, then we need more cowards in this country.

Jim Crow ended in the US in 1965.

The libs dreamed up a new slogan for this war- "I support the troops but not the war" so it's all good.
Just a cop out in my opinion.

Since I saw the Hippy spit on 'baby killer' veteran tale pop up in clockwork fashion, I thought I'd throw a little something out there. Consider this food for thought. Bon appetit!

Images of long-haired antiwar protesters, almost always women, spitting on returning Vietnam veterans have become a shameful part of America's collective memory. Lembcke (sociology, Holy Cross Univ.), a member of Vietnam Veterans Against the War, here presents a stunning indictment of this myth...
Typical urban legend bullsh t. It'll never stop, will it?

Book or no book, it sure sucks when your lies are exposed, doesn't it? Sorry about your luck, buddy. From one veteran to another, you take care!

You do know this book is one person's opinion and experience.

I am glad he did not have a bad time.

That does not mean other did not.

You might what to read the back cover.
