Is homophobia as bad as racism? (compare, terrorism, gay people, voted)

A lot of people seem to compare homophobia to racism. Explain why some would think so.

There's no such thing as "homophobia". The term "homophobia" has been commandeered to mean anything that is "anti-gay". It connotes an "irrational fear" of gayness, but it's actually used by the pro-gay contingent to describe anyone who is against homosexuality.

"Racism" is in a category of its own.

Neither subject is justified. But both are condoned.

They're totally different.

Racism caused exploitation, terrorism, and discrimination since the deception of colonialism.


Homophobia is wrong, but it isn't as nearly severe as racism.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Hatred and discrimination are hatred and discrimination, whether it be based on race, sexuality, age, gender, disability, whatever...

I voted No. Homophobia is WORST than racism, when and if those who are afraid of homsexuals act out violently against them

Homophobia is expressed by those who are ignorant and it doesn't matter by whether they are black, white, asian, female, male or 4 or 99 years of age.

They aren't really equatable (except for the fact they are both forms of discrimination.)

I don't think there is much point in trying to determine which is "worse", or even if that is possible.

I agree. Racism is far worst and causes all sorts of societal ills and violence. Homophobia is mostly overblown in my mind. I've known a few gay people in my life and they had encountered very little to none discrimination.
