Those are just the reasons you could think of.

why not have an independent team of journalists view the pictures? that wouldn't be inflammatory.

obviously, they aren't going to be able to look at a video because of a "malfunction".....

i will say another interesting thing. the doctors and nurses who are treating the "witnesses" are not allowed to talk to them or ask them any questions:

I voted NO.......IMHO...it's in "bad taste" and nothing more than bravado/bragging....adding more "fuel" to anti-American sentiment around the world.

And I agree it will prove nothing...the "birther" type mentality will just say it is photoshopped or computer generated anyway so nothing will be gained....

The "conspiracy minded" have already decided the whole thing is a hoax and nothing will change their minds...why pander to them as well as the some of the general public's love of "gore"?

To release the photos will only help to make Bin Laden more of a martyr to some terrorist and political groups.

pitts2,

what if there really were no photographs of bin laden? we have seen all the other mens' pictures. if that doesn't inflame the conspiracy theories, i don't know what would. (that and the disappearing video that was supposedly made)

instead of my first suggestion about journalists, why not let all the families of the people murdered at 9-11 (who want to) see them for their own satisfaction? it certainly won't inflame them!

one other thing:

the daughter's alleged version doesn't match the official version of what happened now being released. here is the report of "her version":

Senior Pakistani security officials said Osama bin Laden’s daughter had confirmed her father was captured alive and shot dead by the US Special Forces during the first few minutes of the operation carried out at the huge compound in Bilal Town, Abbottabad…
The official said a 12-year-old daughter of bin Laden was among the six children rescued from the three-storey compound.
The daughter has reportedly told her Pakistani investigators that the US forces captured her father alive but shot him dead in front of family members.

According to sources, Bin Laden was staying on the ground floor of the house and was dragged on the floor to the helicopter after being shot dead by US commandos.

you can see that doesn't match what they released. somebody was shot on the ground floor, but it wasn't bin laden on the ground floor according to the official version.

hmm......

from the description just released, i am not sure it will help all that much:

“bin Laden’s corpse was badly disfigured, making it all the more difficult to decide whether to release images, particularly of his face,” said Brennan.

Bin Laden was reportedly shot twice in the head, over the left eye. The rounds blew off part of his head and disfigured his face. But according to government officials, they were able to identify him by what was left of his features.
So what? That's too gruesome? Hollywood show's worse crap than that everyday. How come we could release pictures of naked human pyramid torture at Abu Gharib but a picture of a dead body is too much? How come we can show the dead bodies of the other people killed in this alleged raid but not the one we want to see?

[image removed - sorry, our ad network has a problem with "gore" images]

How come that can be released? I smell the strong scent of BULL**** coming from 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

Yeah no dude you're totally right. All radical Muslims held a conference yesterday, they said that "Killing Osama bin Laden is fine, we will not retaliate against the Great Satan (America), however if they release a picture, then DEATH TO AMERICA!!!!!"

here is another question to ask

why didn't we keep the witnesses to interrogate them ourselves? why would we release them to ANYBODY else after a 10 year manhunt?

really?

looks like a diver going out to try and reclaim bin laden's body now:

Deep sea diver wants to search for bin Laden's body - WAVE 3 News - Louisville, Kentucky

evidently, the body was wrapped in a white shroud surrounded by weights before burial.

that would be something if he finds the body.
