You guys are all letting your emotions get in the way of this conversation. I'm completely fine with the fact that he was shot in the head, I'm glad he's dead but I question the methods that were used to get to that end. That's all I'm saying...
How do you know what methods were used?
The story keeps shifting all the time. Likely the true circumstances will eventually be known.
The US has been performing military operations in Pakistan for years. Obama during the 2008 election campaign pledged to carry out such operations.

OK, then what should we have done? The way I see it, our options were:
-Hope he turns himself in.
-Ask Pakistan to arrest him and turn him over. Unlikely, since they claimed he wasn't even there.
-Drop a JDAM on the compound, killing everybody and possibly some neighbors.
-Send a team in with the possibility of capturing or killing him. Seems like this was the best option.

More important even than this POS being killed was the intel gathered via computer hard drives at the compound. That info. was too important to trust to the Pakistanis alone.
I don't know your politics, but did you feel the same about similar actions by the Bush administration?
Did anyone think he would ever be brought in with a pulse?
I'm not American and his killing means nothing to me, but living in the US, being married to an American, and having American friends in Europe call me long distance to check if I've heard the news as well as the general reaction to the news, does show how much this means to most Americans.
I don't think Bush would've done things differently, and I don't think anyone would've been any less happy about it then.
As far as the actual legality of the operation: According to international law, military law, etc. No, the operation wasn't legal.
Again, I don't think anyone truly cares, and there won't be any long lasting repercussions past maybe a slightly sour relationship with Pakistan.
AG Eric Holder says the actions of the Navy Seals (to shoot/kill OBL) were lawful and appropriate. This is probably the ONLY time I have ever agreed with a statement by Holder. The man didn't deserve a trial.
