There are some in here that try to make big deals about the fact that they supposedly read certain books but when questioned about said books just ignore the questions and then attack the people they diagree with. That would basically be what Obama does all of the time, and seems to be what progressives do day in and day out. Suffice it to say that Obama is very bad for this country. That is why I am working hard to help get more conservatives in the Senate and for the conservatives to keep the House come election time and that way Obama would end up being nothing but a lamd duck President.

It is wrong to demand that anyone buy anything to just be a citizen and it is unconstitutional. Read the constitution.
Then come up with a better plan to provide health care to everybody - and read the Constitution yourself, particularly the part about providing for the "General Welfare".

You can hold whatever opinion you like, but let's not so easily forget the 6 years of unfettered Republican leadership that laid the groundwork for our economic collapse. Balance is key, not one party or another.

Oh stop it with the general welfare clause. That has been misused and abused so much that it is sickening. How about you provide for your own damn general welfare and stop expecting others to take care of you? I know the constitution like the back of mu hand but then I studied it when I got my Masters in American History and it has been shredded because of people just like you.

The Republicans suck almost as bad as the Democrats. They are nothing but democrat light and nothing more. Balance is the key but it won't happen because of the far left way and view that the Dems have these days. The Dems have allowed Pelosi types to take over and Republicans have allowed for the ne-cons to take over. But, it was not just the Republicans fault that the econimy went on the brink at all. If you think so then you forget the many years that the Dems controlled Congress.

I have my own health insurance, so stop pointing the finger at me. I'm not a fan of the mandated purchase clause, but we don't have a better plan yet. We already pay for many items just to be a citizen anyway (the military, for example, no matter what they do). So, your argument fails on that front alone.

If you think having a well regulated but industry-driven health care system that protects consumers (especially those with pre-existing conditions) and widens the net of access is somehow against the intentions of the founding fathers, then you haven't studied the Constitution or the Bible well enough.

I realize you have a strong partisan bias in favor of conservatism, so your perspectives are going to be subject to that bias, but radicalization has primarily been shifting to the right over the past several decades.

Our liberal party is far to the right of any other liberal party in the developed world and our conservative party is also far to the right of any other conservative party in the world.

Did you bother reading the link, the Tribune was interviewing a Socialist organization, it wasn't an opinion piece.

Connection, you believe that because Obama is from Chicago he is connected to the Tribune?????

The Tribune endorsed Bush twice, so much for being a Communist newspaper.
