OK. I still stand by my answer based on the question asked. If it comes to government the speration of Church and State comes to mind, it would have been better had they made it 100% clear to all that they should be seperate, one being politcal the other personal. I am sure there are other areas that are just as important, the right to bear arms also comes to mind, and the limits on the federal government also comes up. Thing is there was no way they could have covered all the bases for what may come in the future, they were busy buildig the foundation for the rest of us to build upon, I think they did an Excellent Job.

I agree with this.
The thing is, the first and second amendment are already both very clear, it's just that throughout history people have tried to find ways around them to suit their own agendas.
Claiming ALL men are created equal then allowing slavery to continue, would have save untold suffering if they had done the right thing from the beginning.

To get the southern states to comply with the revolution (1776) that was off the table. Though it was considered. The Constitution was signed on 1787.
England did not abolish slavery until 1833
The United States abolished slavery in 1885, but we had a war over it.
It would have been nice if in writing the constitution in 1787 that would have been cleared up.
Not going all the way through with the concept of self-ownership. They believed in inalienable rights, but then out of nowhere "the congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes"...oh really? Where did that come from? There's no logical reasoning to justify it. You can't delegate power over others that you never had to begin with.
If people own themselves rather than the government owning them, that means you can't force anyone to do anything against their will, or else you're violating their self-ownership. The idea of limiting the government as much as possible was great, and I agree with almost everything they did, but they fell short when applying their ideas consistently.
Also, look what's happened - the smallest and least intrusive state in history became the wealthiest in the world, and those resources allowed the state to grow into the largest and most powerful government in history. Take the seed of government out and it can't grow. Limited government should be no government.
In a Utopian and idyllic world, sure. But as sad as it was, and as hard as it is to comprehend today, slavery, servitude, those were just the hard cold reality of things were all over the world. People of every race and religion some of its people, some place in the world living in slavery or involuntary servitude.
Slavery is alive and well today, even in the Good Old US of A.
Would agree about both the Term limits, and about slavery, but this is a 4 year old zombie thread.
