Good to see you aren't what my late grandfather used to call a "Norwegian Woodhead". He's a Como Park native.

Bachmann was responding to Wasserman-Schultz.
Schultz is a lefty nutcase.

You got any quotes or actions from Obama that supports your beliefs above? Or have you been indoctrinated by Rush Limbaugh?

You know...I totally agreed when Reagen, Bush Sr., and Idiot Bush Jr., raised the ceiling a gazillion times...But NOW...Its official...Obama wants to raise the debt ceiling...Its DEFINATELY a sign of an evil, socialist, communist, facist, totalitarian, Muslin...

Thank you Michele, and the rest of the tea bagged, oh so thank you for showing the 'un-enlightened rest of us (non-talk radio/Fox Newsers) the light. Without you I actually thought Obama was a human! Now thanks to you and the rest of the right-wing/tea-bagged brigade I see him for what he really is...a nigerian/kenyan/hawaiian, america hating, communist, facist, muslin, socialist, cute puppy-hating, freedom-hating, totalitarian-wannabe, homo-loving, godless, corporate-hating...terrorist!

Thank you Michele, and I thank you...for you are the wind beneath my wings...
Love,
The Tea Party

The President's job is to enforce the Constitution. Congress defaulting on our obligations by not raising the debt is a violation of the Constitution. The President is the only one with the capability to balance Congress' unconstitutional action. The Supreme Court has claimed the use of the 14th Amendment on this issue is fairly broad. Republicans would certainly be mad if he did it and would initiate impeachment proceedings, but it's not the act of a dictator. Someone has to stop Congress if they refuse to be responsible, otherwise they have exclusive power to completely destroy the US economy anytime they want with no oversight.

It's not his job to raise the debt ceiling. He'd be a dictator if he did that--it's outside his authority.

I see that you failed to see when Obama said his people had determined that he couldn't use the 14th Amendment to pull this one off. You are still hammering away at the prog talking points not knowing why the 14th Amendment thing went away.

The Supreme Court would probably disagree with you. The original wording of that clause of the 14th Amendment applied strictly to Civil War debt. The Supreme Court has interpreted it more broadly since then.

They never said he couldn't, they said he probably shouldn't do it. Only the Supreme Court has the authority to say he can't do it, and they haven't made that statement.
