I am 60 years old. To me, any man/boy under 40 years old is a boy. Am I a racist?
See, I saw it the opposite way. I'm 27 and just figured any grown man would be insulted if he was called a boy. But from your point of view, as someone who is older, younger men are indeed still boys.
Just goes to show there is more than one way of looking at things...so everyone should stop claiming everything is racist and try to see things from non-racists' point of view.
Yes, this is all a huge conspiracy. He said tar baby, gave an explanation of what he meant by it, and now we're all denying that it was meant to be racist just so he could say "tar baby" on TV. And it was so worth it just to hear him say that.
Our mission would have been accomplished, but geniuses like yourself have uncovered our secret nationwide plot to say a racist term on TV. Maybe next time...

I didn't ask you to give an essay on why this wouldn't be possible. I just asked what your gut reaction would be if Obama said this on TV. Would you laugh at the silliness? Or would you be outraged and call it racist?
If you saw a white man hang a black man from the tree and say "I'm killing him because he's black," you'd say the man wasn't racist and that his statement was taken out if context.
That is completely ridiculous and offensive, and really doesn't even deserve a response.
So, you don't believe that a white man calling a black man "boy" can be racist?
If you really want to see it that way, sure. You could probably spin anything into being racist so why does it even matter what I say about it? I don't notice racist crap anywhere I go, you do. That's on you, and you should keep it to yourself b/c people are going to start thinking you're nuts if you keep making these associations where none exist.
Only racists and those familiar with the original story should know what it means.
Oh, come on! In my hometown, unless you were living under a rock, you heard every racial/ethnic epithet there is for blacks, Greeks, Italians, Poles, Russians and many more. That didn't mean you used those words.
