I'm not cool with the term, "flash mobs" even being used to describe these acts of violence. In the past, flash mobs were associated with people using social media to gather together spontaneously and perform a dance routine or pillow fight or something else harmless. Most of these violent incidents don't even qualify as "flash mobs." The media just used that term to try to downplay the seriousness of it all by lumping violent acts in with people having a good time. They tried to confuse the broader public by calling them "flash mobs."
Seriously, stop calling them flash mobs. Call them what they are - hate crimes.
