I was just thinking that I can waste a lot of time . . . and I have to constantly remind myself that time is not unlimited. If I want to get things done, I need to be more disciplined.
Many of us will be dead in twenty years, give or take ten or more years . . . I am not saying this to be morbid . . .I personally think it is healthy to not be in denial about death and its certainty. I know most people prefer not to think about it . . . Buddhists say when you are sick, "practice" dying . . .so you will get used to the idea . . .
Anyway, do you think about your imminent death or do you prefer not to think about it?
A few months ago my dad, who is in his mid 80's, had a severe heart attack and "died" twice on the operating table. He pulled through but said that the experience ended his fear of death.
He said it was just like being asleep, didn't have any "different" feeling at all (and didn't see a white light, nor float over the operating table).
It's just a part of life. For some it will happen sooner than for others. If I'm one of the early birds, when it does happen I'll be the last one to worry about it.

Some of us will, many of us won't. Barring some external event, most of us here will be alive in 2031. There's no predicting if I will or won't. Heck, my sons might die before I do. My neighbor's teenagers might die tomorrow.
So short answer: nope, I don't think about or dwell on it. Just imo, you ARE saying this to be morbid, otherwise -since arguably you're wrong - what's your point? That we'll all be dead in 30 or 50 or 100 years? ~yawn~
For the sake of financial planning, sure.
And sometimes when it comes to putting things off .
There have been times when I have spent many hours of a beautiful week, sitting outside and reading, I think about how much time I am "wasting' and then reind myself....yeah, but this is exactly what I want to be doing right at this moment and I take great pleasure in it.
And that's the whole point, isnt it?
Speak for yourself. My family history is of people who live into thier 90's. My wife's father is 93, and he had an aunt that lived to 97. This means I have another good 30 years to go. I'm sure that the agency that handles my defined benefit pension will not be happy.

And you'll be just as much a Curmudgeon in Heaven Heaven help us!
