Why would I blame Obama for the bailouts, when it was Bush and Paulson who came up with the idea? I don't see what other choice Obama had.

Supporting Ron Paul is a waste of time, as long as the Republican Party is run by morons who try and blame everything on Democrats. Republicans refuse to take a hard look in the mirror and see the mistakes their own party made in the 1990's and 2000's.

In 2008 there were big protests in NY against the bailouts, we've spent trillions since then. Where ya been?

There were several thousand protesting during weekend with between 200-300 staying overnight in park.
Now that number did go down but is starting to rise again as word and outrage spreads.
There are people making their way to New York City from every part of the country, I would not be surprise to see at least twice as many people involved with the occupation of Wall Street by this weekend.
Lets not forget the comments by several posters going back to Saturday that thought no one was going to show up nevermind lasting this long, we are already into day 5 and shows no sign of ending anytime soon.

Other choices Obama had were to NOT AUTHORIZE CONTINUED BAILOUTS and continued irresponsible government spending and starting ADDITIIONAL WARS without consulting Congress. How many Democrats are really still in denial about this??? What Obama could have done was to DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT than what Bush had done.

And take the blame for 30 years of bad monetary policy?? hah.

Obama didn't let the financial system fail, for the same reason Bush didn't.

oh please

bush ( a progressive) wanted them...yes...he also like other liberal wanted amnesty for illegals too..he also EXPANDED government like most liberals

meanwhile most republicans voted AGAINST the bank bailout

Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008

the first vote: failed 205–228, with one not voting. Democrats voted 140–95 in favor of the legislation, while Republicans voted 133–65 against it

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said at a press conference after the vote: "The legislation has failed. The crisis has not gone away. We must continue to work in a bipartisan manner." Senate Banking Committee Chairman Christopher Dodd, a Connecticut Democrat, appearing at a joint press conference with Senator Judd Gregg, a New Hampshire Republican, said a bailout plan could still pass Congress. Dodd said: "We don't intend to leave here without the job being done. While it may take another few days, we're confident that can happen."

the second vote:

The revised HR1424 was received from the Senate by the House, and on October 3, it voted 263-171 to enact the bill into law. Democrats voted 172 to 63 in favor of the legislation, while Republicans voted 108 to 91 against it;

seems to me it was certainly a liberal(globalist) pushed bill

oh please the "system" would not have failed.....why didnt they save "lehman bros"...why because the globalists were done with lehman(part of the fed)

its just like the bailout of gm (which has NOT been repaid(you dont repay a loan with another loan)))...they should have let "GM" go down,,, let chevy, buick be like the USED to be...singluar companies

but no GLOBALIST like obama had to 'save' gm....on the taxpayers dollar...and what happened..they still went into bankruptsy...now pontica, saturn, saab, and hummer are all gone

same with chrysley...obama helped BROKER the deal with ITALY...now fiat owns 61% of the company

the system was failing, and they should have allowed it to.

we should have pulled a Sweden, nationalized the banks , liquidated all shareholders' interests, and given all creditors a huge haircut.

Then, if you want to spur lending, do it among the surviving firms that didn't screw up.
