My question is not about what the law is right now, if you think corporations should be allowed to have a "no blacks allowed" hiring policy and for banks to be allowed not to give home loans to blacks? Meaning no government intervention and letting the free market decide where/if blacks get a job or if blacks can get home (or business) loans?
I'm all about discussion. But having a policy the denies blacks loans as a policy is not letting the free market work.
Increasing your consumer base is part and parcel of the free market- unless of course you're trying to sell some exclusive elitist product but you can only even sell to the top for so long and need to expand vis a vis the Mercedes C class is born.

Couple of things.
-There is no such thing as free market in a society.
-Denying an application based on color of the skin is not conducive to a society with this framework:
"We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."
I see from the poll that despite the protestations of Repugs, racism is alive and thriving in the USA.
Seems some little scared people with no skills have a need to eliminate the competition.

Why would a bank deny a loan to anyone based solely on race?
If the bank operates in an area where one race trumps any other, it could be a selling point. In fact, those were selling points to businesses when people weren't "people" by law. When nobody but a certain race has the privilege of owning property...
Business is a privilege, to be operated on the terms of the society. And a society that looks forward, does not condone discrimination.
