First they came for your trans fats, then they came for your salt, then they came for your sodas...
The food police? So now the evil socialist Democrats are forcing your children to eat school cafeteria food?

Here, a large platter of Fries for everyone, and salt shakers in every set of hands. Bon appetit, and burp, mmm...fries with the skin on 'em. Yes!

Let me get this right, the government shouldn't fund planned parenthood to protect unborn "children" but should fund unhealthy foods once they are born.

What am I missing?

So what? Schools choosing not to serve fries at lunch is no different than a restaurant taking it off its menu. And frankly, I don't want my tax dollars to go toward junk food for children so we can pay for their health complications later.

Why is this so hard to understand?

What you are missing is the wisdom of how food is prepared, or should be.
Fries are not unhealthy if prepared in Olive Oil, Extra Virgin would be the best.
Salt, the govt. best keep their stinkin hands off of my salt shaker. Salt is an electrolyte. We need it, and we perspire it out of our system.

I will decide what amounts of salt are good for me.

Are you being purposefully obtuse? Eat whatever you like. Feed your kid whatever crap you want to too. Just don't expect the school cafeteria to feed it to him. Get fat on your own time, ok?

Extra Virgin Olive Oil??!?!?!?!?

What school district are you funding, the Hamptons???

Not to mention the fact that olive oil sucks big time for deep frying.

I was in Bed Bath and Beyond and didn't even notice a government warning label!

I try to eat healthy, and I absolutely stay away from french fries.

In my opinion it is not evil or "socialistic" or wrong for school cafeterias to banish french fries from the menu. There is way too much obesity and health problems related to obesity in this country.

You want your kids to eat french fries? Make some at home and pack them in his or her lunch bag. No body is outlawing french fries. If you want to be fat and unhealthy, go ahead, be my guest. Why not smoke cigarettes while you're at it?

If you are an adult I have no problem with you making the decision as to how much salt, as well as sodium in the form of msg, baking powder, baking soda etc you consume. Soak your rice in soy sauce for all I care.

But if you are a child and not in a position to make an informed choice, and sit down to a school cafeteria meal then really salt is something which should be avoided.
