Oh, yeah, Wyoming and Idaho were just full of Mexicans before being taken over. A Cantina on every corner, and the rich Mexican culture just flowing in the streets.
Didn't matter if there was a cantina on every corner or not, that was more Dodge city than San Antonio anyway. They were part of the Mexican territory dealt away in a land deal. They were Mexican territory, and thus, would fit right in w/ the "strict historical" loonies up there and on here.
Nope. California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas were technically Mexico before the Mexican war, but that's about it. There was a good Mexican presence in New Mexico (Santa Fe) and California, some remote mines in Utah, Arizona and Colorado, and Father Escalante's expedition made it as far North as Utah Lake in the 18th century, but that was it.
Well. The US Government isn't in the business of creating theme parks. Save that for Anheuser-Busch. A private company can create a jihadi theme park if they think it's going to be profitable.
Well if anyone had taken the time to read took the link (I know, an unheard of concept here on C-D) you would have noticed that NO WHERE in the story does the term theme park appear.
From the link.
Interior Secretary Ken Salazar in the past year has pushed the National Park Service to identify more sites or properties related to the histories of women and minorities that could be added to the National Register of Historic Places or be preserved as national parks or historic landmarks.
How can a park be ethnic?, dye the leaves the colours of Mexico?
Paint the bases of the trees white, pile garbage everywhere, add some pickpockets, muggers, beggars, several street vendors selling fly covered treats and let some stray dogs loose?

I read that. I still don't see the point. When you have to go out and look for historical sites (ie: make up stuff and get creative) they probably aren't that historical to begin with. It's like quotas....for the historical registery.

Hang a pinata at the entrance gate ?
