Please, stop with the ignorant posts. So Steve Jobs worked hard, sent jobs overseas, and stockpiles cash like there was no tomorrow and we should applaud him, but the city kid who got into an ivy league school, worked 16-18 hour days in an investment bank, worked his way up to VP, while still working long hours should be demonized.

And speaking of crooks, how about labor unions that the libs love so much. I'd say it would be hard to find a better example of a group gaining power and money of the backs of others, but they don't count, do they Casper.

Regarding the POTUS, you are correct, not his job to create jobs. Also not his job to stifle job creation.

The intent of the 1983 legislation was to generate large Social Security surpluses for the next 30 years that were supposed to be saved and invested, in order to build up a large reserve in the trust fund that could later be drawn down to pay benefits to the baby boomers. The 1983 payroll tax hike has generated more than $2.5 trillion that is supposed to be in the trust fund. If the trust fund actually held this amount in real assets, full Social Security benefits could be paid until at least 2037 without any changes. Unfortunately, none of the surplus revenue was saved or invested in anything. It was all spent, by the government, on wars and other government programs without making any provisions for repaying the money.

If the money is not repaid in full, with interest, it will have been stolen by the government from working Americans who paid into the fund.

Since Social Security would be fully funded until at least 2037 if the government had not used the money for other things, the only reason that politicians are advocating cuts in Social Security benefits is the fact that the government does not have the money with which to pay its debt to Social Security.
Unfunded liabilities are crushing us. Plus the huge amount of fraudulent claims to gov't programs, that wouldn't stand in a private insurer. Big gov't is the problem.

Save them, defunding tem is not saving them. The Repubs want to make cuts alright, but only to those things THEY do not like such as Planned Parenthood while at the same time continuing to give money to NASCAR. The devil is in the details, as usual.

Speaing of ignorant posts, the above takes the cake. No one is demonizing the honest workers, the ones demonized are the Fat Cats that got there in other than honest or moral ways. You know, your Idols.
And speaking of crooks, how about labor unions that the libs love so much. I'd say it would be hard to find a better example of a group gaining power and money of the backs of others, but they don't count, do they Casper.
You obviously do not know who your talking to, since I am no big fan of unions. But I will say this, people should have the right to bargin collectively, in some cases it is theonly way they have a voice when dealing with some of your Idols. I assume you include police and firefigher unions amoung those evil union workers, tell them that if they ever resond to you in a time of need.

Regarding the POTUS, you are correct, not his job to create jobs. Also not his job to stifle job creation.
He isn't, it is a right-wing Myth created to give righties something to whine about.

[quote=2e1m5a;21475933]Exactly! It is crazy how people believe this crap they are fed all the time. The oldest trick in the book is to place the blame on those with no voice and no power. "Blame the poor! They're the reason for our declining economy". Uh, no how about we blame those that actually HAVE POWER and CONTROL our spending and money supply?

While I agree the welfare system should be revamped (especially Medical and Cash), there will be always be some type of fraud in every entitlement program.
If you are going to go after welfare fraud, Doctor's might be the biggest violators, signing off on phony disabilities just to get the "welfare client" that they can overcharge because GOVT is paying for it. But this is not the fraud we should be most concerned about.

It is the fraud in the Federal Reserve, Corporate Campaign Donations, and our Federal Government in general that should be the main concern, but nobody wants the public to think that. Start at the top.[/QUOTE

I agree with you. Look below.

Goodbye to All That: Reflections of a GOP Operative Who Left the Cult | Truthout

This legislative assault is moving in a diametrically opposed direction to 200 years of American history, when the arrow of progress pointed toward more political participation by more citizens. Republicans are among the most shrill in self-righteously lecturing other countries about the wonders of democracy; exporting democracy (albeit at the barrel of a gun) to the Middle East was a signature policy of the Bush administration. But domestically, they don't want those people voting.

You can probably guess who those people are. Above all, anyone not likely to vote Republican. As Sarah Palin would imply, the people who are not Real Americans. Racial minorities. Immigrants. Muslims. Gays. Intellectuals. Basically, anyone who doesn't look, think, or talk like the GOP base. This must account, at least to some degree, for their extraordinarily vitriolic hatred of President Obama. I have joked in the past that the main administration policy that Republicans object to is Obama's policy of being black.[2] Among the GOP base, there is constant harping about somebody else, some "other," who is deliberately, assiduously and with malice aforethought subverting the Good, the True and the Beautiful: Subversives. Commies. Socialists. *******s. Secular humanists. Blacks. ****. Feminazis. The list may change with the political needs of the moment, but they always seem to need a scapegoat to hate and fear.

Let's not pretend that welfare is insignificant. It's 13% of the budget, which is about half of the entire defense budget. 2011's welfare budget is a $500 billion. To be fair, that includes unemployment benefits, but it's still a very significant number.

Someone making $50,000 having a $6,500 annual expense would be a significant burden, right?

Ok Mr. Talking Point. I like your use of the "Fat Cats". Who would they be? Oh, yeah, they are my idols, I forgot.

What a waste of time.
