Prostitution should be legal because it's absurd that a woman can OPENLY in front of the police take 100 men in her house and screw each one without getting arrested. But if they see one guy give her a dime, they've gotta arrest them both.

Long and short of it.

As long as it's done behind closed doors and discretely I really don't care that much.

Prostitution in Nevada - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I believe that all prostitution should be legal, as long as it's done in private, and between consenting adults. Street prostitution should remain illegal, unless it's done in an area that is designated for that type of activity. (The U.S. has no such areas.)
Yeah, that - all of it.

I don't care what consenting adults do with their bodies, and if the payment is mutually agreed upon, who cares?? Legalizing prostitution, as with legalizing drugs, also eliminates/lessens many risk factors and underground activity... take the brothels in Nevada, where women are regularly tested for STDs and practice safe sex. Not to mention, it's a HECK of a lot safer for both parties to be in a controlled environment (house or business as opposed to walking the streets).

It should be legalized because once again it's very easy to get right now. Anyone who wants it can get it. And it's not being regulated or taxed.

To be fair, most marriages involve some sort of (often unspoken) exchange - in many cases being "you get sex regularly if I get free reign on your credit card." And that can work in either/any direction, in terms of the genders.

This is a subject I haven't seen discussed here. A common pro-abortion argument is that the government shouldn't tell a woman what she can or cannot do with her body. Does this argument apply to prostitution? In regard to prostitution, at least a baby is not killed. Would prostitution be considered less evil because of this fact?

yes it should be legalized.
conditions: No pimps, and the prostitute also has to be of legal age.

reasons: the goverment has no right to tell the people what they can or cannot so with their sex lives.

The reason I don't think it should be legal is that it often the police need to be able to arrest the pimps and the johns and the prostitutes before actual crimes are carried out. Prostitutes are often victims, some are nothing more than slaves earning money for abusive pimps. There is a very strong aspect of slavery -- pimps preying on runaway girls, using drugs to enslave them.

Prostitutes have a rather short life-span, especially street hookers and the truck stop prostitutes and by keeping it illegal, it's possible to stop some of the serial killers of prostitutes, the snuff film makers and so on.

Prostitution that involves a "date" and one-night stand with $20 left on the nightstand isn't going to be controlled but there should be laws that allow for some control when it's way beyond that.

If prostitution were legal we wouldn't have serial killers taking advantage of the cloak of illegality to slaughter girls, like Ted Bundy or the Green River Killer. But regardless, it's not going to happen. Similar to the war on drugs, there are too many gov't jobs at stake. It's also a good training ground for police undercover work. Even the FBI has gotten into the biz, ostensibly on grounds of underage & trafficking, but 90 pct of their arrests are consenting adults.

Writer James Bovard related how "As planes were smashing into the Pentagon and the World Trade Center, ten FBI agents were working a prostitution investigation in New Orleans. After a year's work and more than five thousand tapped calls, the FBI proudly announced the indictment of a dozen hookers and madams....law professor Jonathon Turley quipped, 'Only the FBI could go to the French Quarter and find only a dozen prostitutes after a year of investigation.'" (p.57, 'Terrorism and Tyranny').
