This kind of twisted and warped thinking is the only thing that allows them to believe in their own ideology. You see, their ideas and solutions may not be perfect, but at least they don't want people to DIE!!!
If pro-lifers think the GOP will do anything for the pro-life cause they are sadly deluded...
Being against the government forcing employers to give away contraception pills for free, is not preventing a woman from "getting access to the contraceptive services."
Santorum on birth control. Quote: “One of the things I will talk about, that no president has talked about before, is I think the dangers of contraception in this country…. Many of the Christian faith have said, well, that’s okay, contraception is okay. It’s not okay. It’s a license to do things in a sexual realm that is counter to how things are supposed to be.”

I would not put it past the loony left to quickly make a law banning abortions for women who want to abort gay babies, assuming their will ever be a way to test a fetus for that.
I think it was the loony right (Santorum) who is criticizing prenatal testing because it is preventing the growth of the disabled population.
Do you see how nutso politics is when it comes to this on both sides? I hope you do.
"A woman who was 12 weeks pregnant had an appointment with the Calthorpe Clinic and explained to a doctor that she and her partner wished to terminate the pregnancy because they “don’t want a girl”. A certain Dr Raj responded, “That’s not fair. It’s like female infanticide, isn’t it?” "
Can you imagine if there were genetic testing for sexual orientation? Abortion (or the test) would be banned tomorrow.
Lol, oh you're serious. OK, please fill us in on the equivalent organization to planned parenthood, that is supported by the left, that helps women who make the choice to carry a baby to term.
planned parenthood supports many women in their pregnancies to term.
Ufortunately abortion inloves more than just the mother, there is a baby being killed, so society has an interest. For those who belive a fetus is just s blob of cells, killing all baby girls should be of concern, since it will mean the end of mankind. Eugenics is unethical and has serious adverse consequences to society.
you should focus your societal interest on those walking the earth breathing in polluted air, drinking polluted water, being made sick by food that doesn't follow quality control, and not being able to afford food for themselves.
once you're concerned with those societal problems, let's focus on "life" that cannot survive outside of the womb.
The right is ridiculously smug on this issue. Which is insane for a party that knowingly supports the death penalty -- a stance that has repeatedly led to the death of innocent people.
I am trying to decide if it this comment is a lack of understanding the pro-life's position or just a manipulation of information.
My views have nothing to do with controlling women and everything to do with my belief of when life begins. That is the sole difference in the argument. It has NOTHING to do with control and even less to do with religion. It is about morality and beliefs on life. I cannot take any argument seriously that attempts to focus on personal freedom since I am focusing on life and death.
You can shake a stick at me all you want but as long as I believe life happens before a child leaves the womb then no amount of screaming for freedom and equality will change my mind about abortion.
that's fine, and you are free to believe that. but don't frame those of us who disagree with you as "pro abortion". many people who are "pro choice" are really just "i don't care what others do on this topic". it's simply a non-issue for many of us. personally, my wife and I would not have an abortion, whether we learned the child will have developmental issues or else, but I don't care to legislate my personal feelings on this issue on others. You're free to make your case, but that doesn't make me "pro abortion".
I suspect you are in favor of laws that make burglary illegal. i am equally sure that you don't subscribe to the position that if you are against burglary, don't burgle.
Science determines when a fetus is a baby, viability seems like nifty starting point. It seems less than nice to kill a baby that can live outside its mommy.
Of course society has a compelling interest in making certain activities illegal, because they hurt society as a whole. As more of these ethical dilemmas crop up, the more restrictions to abortion will happen.
that viability point isn't really clear cut, biologically speaking, which is why this remains such a contentious issue. I'm perfectly fine with outlawing third trimester abortions, because that is clearly a viable life. i would agree with you on this point. second trimester becomes the debatable area. My friends had twin daughters at 25 weeks. It's a miracle that one survived, after 2 months in the hospital. Sadly, the other didn't make it. There were simply too many medical obstacles to overcome for her. 2 decades ago, there's virtually no chance either would have survived.
I really don't know the answer, which is why I have my personal beliefs, and I'm fine with others coming to their own answer on this issue. But i would support a 3rd trimester ban.
Of course you would would think that, and of course you would be wrong. Would you be happy about gays being aborted because of their sexual orientation? Would you say its none of your business?
A friend of mine worked for a medical malpractice firm and had to work on a wrongful life case. The couple sued their doctor because the doctor was negligent with informing them incorrect results of the down syndrome test. They won, because it was true. And they argued if they got the proper results, they would have aborted the pregnancy. I find it disgusting, but, it's their choice. So I would find the situation you described equally disgusting, but, it's their choice.
