The average family size is three people, usually one adult and two children.

Referring to families on welfare.

I'm all for helping the helpless.

I couldn't care less about the clueless.

Agree that the extreme right wingers' ideologies (no contraception) are counterproductive to the same problem (more people on welfare) which they whine about. But, to be fair, there is no restrictions on contraception at the moment, and it's not like that's stopping the freeloaders.

Case in point - the freeloaders are making babies for the sole purpose of getting more freebies. It's not like they just happened to get some freebies because they happened to make some babies. Don't put the cart before the horse.

If the funding was turned off, then lots of people would find out the hard way that their bad decisions have consequences. Which is the way it should be.
When was the last time you voted for someone who promised to wean us off the welfare state?
When was the last time that candidate once elected, actually did anything?
When was the last time you gave that candidate a mouthful for not living up to his/her promises?
When will you again vote for a candidate who makes similar promises?
Whom did you vote for in the recent past?
Who will you vote for next?

I do worry for their children, as there is no example of a work ethic in the families who are 100% dependent upon government. While in college, at a NYC bodega, I saw a mother with 2 of her sons instructing them on how to use Food Stamps, as she told them, "When you grow up, you will need to know how to use them".

What kind of example is that? Why are we surprised that one generation follows another on the dole? In prior decades, our people had a healthy level of shame at even the thought of being on the dole. We need that shame factor back. It was a motivating factor that served us well.

Stop crying.

We're not turning the funding off, nor should we.

And yet most military families are able to receive WIC.

Actually, the 2012 election is turning into a referendum against the Welfare State, and it is most welcome by us who see this nation circling the drain.

I will vote for the person who will turn do the most to turn this nation around.

But who I vote for is irrelevant. What's your opinion of the preponderance of personal irresponsibility in this nation? Why do you do you insist on deflecting?

Until we have a way of forcing sterilzation/BC on those under the poverty line, then I'll support WIC.

It's not the children's fault their parents are poor, and they shouldn't have to suffer as a result of it.
